I know this is a rare condition but hoping someone can ease my mind going for steroid injection tomorrow as I have tarsal tunnel after going for nerve conduction test.
Has anyone had this done did it help?
How was the treatment and after
Thank you

Hello. Both my husband and I have had steroid Injections in various areas. They have worked for both of us.
1) The main thing we have learnt is to plan to "rest" the injected area for a few days afterwards - it doesn't seem to matter where the injection is, we've found that they work better after 3 to 7 days "taking it easy" and resting the area.
2) It is very likely you will either be given a local anesthetic before the injection or as part of it. This makes the area feel much better and this is when you need to be really careful. We find the anesthetic last about 24hrs.
3) Finally I've always been advised to avoid ice packs, tens machines, anti-inflammatory gel, etc for the first few days.
I’ve not had steroid injection for carpel? Tunnel, but have recently had issues with my wrist and tendinitis in my foot which was excruciating.
I have and indeed continue to have steroid injections in my hip for bursitis which I find really helpful.
I take the steroid prednisone for lung disease due to scleroderma and have done for 17 years even though bone density can be an issue. However, I need this maintenance dose.
Back to the injection; I mark the spot now, a small scratch and in a few days relief for some months. I’ve not had any side effects.
I hope this helps. Good luck.
My wrist improved with rest after a few weeks. My foot took eight of complete rest. This is obviously an issue with scleroderma.
