This happens to my middle finger rt hand on a regular basis. Sudden sharp pain. Swelling black and blue white finger.
I try and gently massage top of finger to base to relieve tightness.
Cause of this.
Sorry photos not the best.

Hi. Your finger looks remarkably like mine! I have had scleroderma and raynauds for 25 years now, and the ‘skin tightness’ you describe is part of the scleroderma condition. I experience this on other parts of my body too. Which consultant/hospital do you attend and have you not mentioned this to them? I have recently moved and am now seeing a consultant at Aintree University Hospital, where there is a specialist scleroderma centre, and have had more tests done there than ever before. Awaiting results but prescribed Sildenafil for raynauds immediately. Go back to your GP/consultant and press for answers. Sometimes it is the only way! Kim
It looks very much like achenbachs syndrome to me. I suffer from this. It’s spontaneous bruising that can be very painful and the affected finger can be painful and swollen for a few days to a week or so (depending on how bad the bruise is). Although it’s painful it’s completely harmless. However I’d recommend seeing a doctor just to get it checked out to make sure there’s nothing else going on.
Your finger looks like mine.It was locked for a while but then returned to normal and has been ever since. No pain at any time however. The puffyness of course remains but I doubt if any consultant will be able to give you or me for that matter any advice. We have a condition which does not have a cure.
