Has anyone got ulcers on there elbows? My husband is really suffering with very painful elbows I think that they are ulcers on the end similar to the ones on fingers. I think he’s knocked it. Does anyone have any way to manage with this problem???
Thanks guys

Hi there, Sounds like he needs someone to have a look at them to see what is going on. Did he have them there when you went to your recent appointment at the Royal Free? Can you speak to them? Does he trust the GP? You ideally want some 'treatment', whether they decide on ointments, dressings or perhaps medications. I have some calcinosis on my left elbow which I have to be careful of so it doesn't get knocked and lead to infection or skin breakdown. Does he have anything like that present?
Does he do anything that would exacerbate the problem at home or work? Ulcers often occur at pressure points (like on the heels in bed, or bottom, or fingers which get lots of pressure)
Does he have clothes that don't cause rubbing and irritation?
I hope you get something sorted. It must be sore and miserable for him.
I do have terrible trouble with very sore dry elbows and i feel lucky to have so far avoided ulcers...as soon as i begin to notice my elbow trouble flaring i rub intensive moisturiser on them in big amounts several times a day...sometimes i have to do this for over a month. And i do v much worry about contact injuries to the skin on elbows, because am certain they’d struggle to heal. So i am very sorry for your hisband and i hope he gets help with this soon. Please let us inow how you get on
Yes l have had them on both elbows, quite painful but by the time l finally got to see specialist nurse they had healed. I had just kept them moisturised and looked out for increased soreness and inflammation. I imagine they will be back again at sometime in the future. Was it calcinosis l just don’t know but probably.
