Skins' going so weird on one elbow!! So itchy, but lumpy a bit, too, thicker than the skin around it, off colour a bit, feels a bit tight, feel it pull a little when I bend my arm.
Have not been officially diagnosed with scleroderma, though clinical nurse very much thinks it is, waiting for next rheumy appt in a few months. But, anyone else have involvement of skin on elbows, and if so what was the initial symptoms, and other than loads and loads of moisturizers to keep the skin as moisturized and pliable as possible, what, if anything else have you had that helped at all?
Already on methotraxate and hydrocloroquinine.
Edited ** not a great pic at all, and very red right now in patches, but will try to get a better pic tomorrow

Hi there, I have lots of calcinosis that sits in and around my left elbow...that certainly makes it lumpy and bumpy. Skin is rough or sometimes a bit red if it is more inflamed. Skin is a bit thickened in reaction to what is going on underneath, but not thickened in the way that you normally get skin changes in scleroderma. To be honest, most of the time I just ignore it. I don't even especially moisturise it. I only become bothered when the calcium lumps get infected, or are coming out.
With yours it sounds like there is more specific skin thickening, and you are doing the right things. Keep putting on the moisturiser and make sure you move your elbow through a full range of movement a few times a day to make sure you don't lose range of movement in the joint for as long as possible.
Hello Bengali. I have similar sensations but on my feet. The skin is very uncomfortable and feels very tight - as if it will split if I try to wiggle my feet and toes. They're very sore too especially in bed. I do put cream on them and they feel more comfortable for a while.
