Diffused scleroderma and eye problems

Just a query really. Has anyone else suffered with an eye condition whilst taking micophenolate? During the last couple of weeks the vision in my left eye has become blurred even when wearing my glasses. It also feels as if there is some type of 'cover' over my pupil and I have a dull ache around my eye/temple. I am seeing my opthalmologist soon but any info would be helpful!

Hello Kimmo, I wake up every morning feeling as if my left eye has been weeping during the night, I wonder whether its just our condition, there are also many times that I feel as if I have grit in my eyes, I have been prescribed eye drops for that.

Hi. I feel like that too, plus throughout the day. I have secondary Sjogrens so have eye drops but they make no difference to what's happening at the moment. I am seeing my opthalmologist on Friday so it will be interesting to see what he says. Will let you know and thanks for taking the time to reply!

Hi. Just an update. Had an emergency appt at hospital today and stunned by the news. Had a bleed behind my eye and a blocked vein present. Like looking through a mist. Apparently the damage is done and I'm now partially sighted. If the vein ruptures there is a good chance i will lose my sight altogether. Consultant doesn't know how it's happened but could be scleroderma related so written to my rheumatologist. If you notice any change to your vision, even slightly blurred, visit your dr/optician asap! Hope this helps anyone reading it!

Hello Kimmo, I don't think Myco is linked to any eye related side effects. I went through a phase of both my eyes being really blurred in the mornings (before being on myco) and then recently I started getting eye pain and excess tears. Opthalmologist diagnosed unstable tear film with eye drop and gel which has helped. Basically I am producing enough tears but the wrong composition so the eye dries out too quickly as the tears all run away instead of staying on the eye, this then also makes the vision blurred as well as hurting. Hope your opthalmologist can get you sorted.

So sorry to hear this.

I think sjogrens can make your eyes very vulnerable.

Hope you will find a way to adjust, you've had alot to deal with.
