I watched this documentary about fasting and am getting more and more convinced that fasting is worth a try, also to try and bring my auto-immune disease (limited scleroderma) under control or at least see if it brings any benefits with it.
I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the health benefits of fasting in relation to their disease or health generally.
Even if you haven't - this documentary is worth watching!!
I am thinking of trying to fast one day per week...

Hi Bear. Can you share some more details of how long / often you fast and if you have noticed any differences?
I have had my first 24-hour fast yesterday and didn't find it as hard as I imagined. I was in the office and had plenty of distraction which helped. The only thing I found uncomfortable was that I felt terribly cold as the metabolism working after food obviously provides some warmth. So hence my fingers suffered a bit more too. Not sure if that was a one off, but I will definitely have another go at it.
I have not watched the documentary but have been reading loads about the benefits of fasting. Including that it's starves cancer cells of their primary fuel, glucose.
It's something that I have considered but with quite a heavy drug intake I wonder if it would be safe. Or better to try to remove the drug requirement first then get into fasting.
Hi hunkydory, read your post and watched the program on 'fasting'. I must admit that when I miss a meal I seem to have more energy and eating makes me lethargic. I am going to give th '500' calory for 2 days fasting and see if it has any effect on my scleroderma. Take care. Roselda
