Swollen muscle on foot

I noticed quite a big bump on my foot near my ankle. It has been there for at least two months so I went to my GP today. He told me it is a swollen muscle and when I asked him if it had to do with scleroderma he said "no". Five minutes later he changed his mind and said it could be possible. He told me to consult with the rheumatologist but I still waiting for that appointment. Has anyone experienced this? Thank you.

Is the bump soft? and do you have pain in the ankle area? I have swollen lump at the back of my ankle and the ankle itself is swollen ...this gradually goes down a bit if I am not weight bearing on it but once on my feet for a wee while it becomes very painful indeed and the swelling is worse.

Thanks for replying Marilyn. My bump is soft but it does not hurt yet.

I have a hard lump under the skin next to the inside bone of my left ankle. I had it X-rayed last week and it is fibrosis of connective tissues, formed a nodule. The veins have had to divert around it. I have three other similar lumps in both lower legs, and they're the same thing. The radiologist consultant says they could be surgically removed but would probably re-occur. I'm seeing my rheumatologist in November and will post with any updates. Aching legs, and painful ankle joints as well as feet. Has severely limited my mobility.

Nearly forgot to say; most of the nodules appear brown and slightly raised on the surface.

Thanks and do let us know how you get on.

Not got the same in lumpiness...:)...mine is just soft to the pressing of fingers....but very painful on the walking. No discolouration of the skin...but can agree on the aching legs and very painful ankles...not to mention the top of my left leg ..groin area..is very ouchy on moving in a certain way or angle...it really makes me cry out loud with the immediate pain that thankfully only lasts as long as I stay in that position....but there are days when it occurs and the pain on weight bearing is agony. Thankfully, not too many of those! But, as my knees are ruined with osteoarthritis and I have no cartlidge left in either knee I too am crippled with movements. So, I do wish you all the best with your lumps and hope they can help you with the pain. Best of everything going forward pet. xx
