Bruising and SSc

Though I've had SSc for almost 4 years, this is new for me. These big bruise patches. Sometimes I've no idea where they come from; others it's from some very minor brush of some kind. This isn't a great example! it's come from the little tight strap that is put on your open arm for a blood test. Any ideas?

That looks tender, I do bruise very easily but not as severely as that I don't think. I'd be asking my rheumy if it's normal iiwy

Hi Maggie-stanfield

Ok this is really interesting. I've had SSc for 12 years. I too bruise easily. Also (new for this year!) I developed sore lumps on my leg having bashed it during a house move. The lumps move around the leg and follow the length of the muscle. It's taken a year to move from my ankle area up to my knee!! Very weird. Gp thought initially it was thrombophlebitis but latest view is muscle inflammation . I think our soft tissues respond differently to irritation. Had a clinic apt at RFree yesterday but no real answers there . We all have the same disease but it constantly amazes me that it presents itself in such different ways . Good luck and hope it calms down for you .

Hi Have you had your red and white blood cells checked. My daughter needs it done every month she has to when she starts bruising because of her MEDS. Hope it might help. All the best.
