Raynoids: Anybody have any good advice... - Scleroderma & Ray...
Raynoids
If you have Raynaud's it is more likely that you have an ulcer starting and the best thing to do is consult your GP. I have to say that I have yet to find a GP who is much good at treating ulcers but they can refer you to the District Nursing Service who have more experience with ulcers. Don't be too blaze about an ulcer they can take between 6 months and a year to heal so you need to get onto it fast and follow the advice you are given.
Hi Emma, either get a referral from your GP, or self refer yourself to a Podiatrist. Many medical centres have a Podiatry clinic nowadays.
When you speak to the Podiatrist they will give advice regards cream etc. They will also examine the condition of your feet and arrange appointments as and when you require.
I have been treated by the Podiatrists for the last 7 years, and I recommend you register with them and they will sort things out for you. Merry Christmas, take care xx
Toe. You may need to go to the Chiropodist or podiatrist as soon as possible. We don't heal well catch it as it begins. Cream not enough. Finger ulcers need to be treated as early as possible. See your doctor or rheumatologist.
Hi Emma, as the others have said, see a Podiatrist as soon as possible. In the meantime, you might want to apply some Germolene. This has both antiseptic and anaesthetic properties. This will, hopefully, help ease the pain until such time as you can see a Podiatrist.
Seeing a podiatrist does not hurt and they are the experts when it comes to caring for your feet.
Good luck.
Please go to see your doctor as soon as possible. In the meantime keep the wound as clean as possible. Pop to the nearest chemist and pick up some dressings and some sterile normal saline to bathe it whilst awaiting your GP's appointment. It is important for the ulcer not to become infected so I wouldn't advise you to put any creams or ointments on it. If you are experiencing pain take some pain relief if you have some or ask the Pharmacist for advice. Please hurry to your GP so treatment can be started, pronto. Keep your feet as warm as you can and rest.
All the best.

sudacreme ointment helps
I have had multiple finger ulcers and now have two red areas on top of toes, threatening to turn into ulcers. The Royal Free Hospital and the Scleroderma Society have both recommended Hirudoid cream, which I have used with some success. Ensure the area is kept scrupulously clean as infected ulcers are nigh impossible to get rid of and are extremely painful! Good luck.
Go to see your doctor or the practic nurse asap, You may end up getting the ulcer infective.
In the meantine pop to the chemist, the pharmacist will guide you. Get sone surgical gloves if possible and some dressings. Wash your hands before and after dressing it, Keep warm and rest the affected foot. Good Luck.
