As I've mentioned on here before, I believe that much of my sleep issues are a result of Restless Leg Syndrome. I am hoping to start a course of Gabapentin now a recommended treatment for RLS. I'm wondering if anyone on here knows whether this is likely to affect my sleep (either for better or worse) aside from the hopeful benefits if it controls my RLS?

Gabapentin effects
Hi, the results seem to vary immensely. Some people find it helps, others don’t tolerate it. I didn’t. You’ll soon find out, I’m sure…
When you say you didn't tolerate it, do you mean you had side effects or did it not deal with your symptoms? How long were you on it, if you don't mind me asking?
I was on a low dose pregabalin for a few years, and am unsure it helped with anything as I was struggling with insomnia and didn’t know what RLS was. I came off it and got a bit better, but it’s difficult to remember as I didn’t keep a diary. I guess I came off some other medications also. I then tried gabapentin a few years ago after entering menopause and found that it made me very sick. Unfortunately I can’t remember quite what the problems were but they were enough for me to quickly give it up. I guess it was nausea, vomiting, that sort of thing. I get that from a lot of drugs, and a lot of drugs also increase the RLS even when they are not supposed to. Sorry it’s all I can say really. I’m now on buprenorphine.
That's really helpful. Thank you. So I'm assuming the buprenorphine works in terms of controlling RLS and insomnia?
I take 200 mg/night for sleep with a bunch of herbal meds and as of now it works enough for me to get about 5 houurs/night.
