I have not been sleeping well recently, plus my daughter passed away which added to the issue, I bought sleepease ( boots) thinking they were a mild over the counter med', I slept, but both times I took the med', I woke up mid morning where my body appeared to be uncomfy about something, sort of fighting against my sleep if you can understand, like I was seizing up, lasted 10mins, my legs were the worst part of body, like I had to keep moving them about, fidgety sort of, I did post about my shallow breathing when laid flat in bed, ( I had a good reply and know much more about that issue ) i'm wondering if my body is telling me to wake because i'm not taking in enough oxygen breath wise ? but the sleep med's are putting me in a sleep state, therefore creating a ying yang situation ? as anyone had similar experience ?

~Firstly I offer my deepest sympathy in the untimely passing of your daughter.Your sleep will be disrupted as part of your grieving - a difficult time which is something I know we have to experience and go through as gently as we can.
I am not familiar with the OTC (sleepease) but two thoughts came to my mind.
I am wondering if the ingredients were not tolerated/too strong by your system & secondly I am wondering if you have a sleep apnoea of sorts.
You describe what has happened with me in not getting enough oxygen - I have mild sleep apnoea & use a CPAP machine. An appointment with a sleep specialist revealed this with an overnight monitor worn around my waist.
I am slim, don't smoke or drink so didn't fit the usual profile - it's hereditary.
I have a prescribed melatonin capsule (2mg) which helps me to sleep.

What kind words and thoughtfulness, thank you !, please forgive the delay, I did get a response in an earlier post about sleep apnoea with regards to lack of sleep, interesting info', as is your contribution, laid flat mostly caused me awakening, that kind person mentioned the sleep apnoea, I check the internet and learned I should avoid the position laid flat and prop myself up to a comfy position on my side, I was finding this really helped, the loss of my girl added stress and I was back to awake again most of the night, thats why I tried the sleepeaze( diphenhydamine hydrochloride ) first 1 tab, second night half tab, I slept as said previous, apart from 5-10 min major fidget, I left them alone because I thought perhaps my brain was telling me to wake as my breathing was laboured, yet the tabs were putting me to sleep, sort of a body confusion if you like, I think I had best see my GP and mention what you said about the cpap, I am non smoker and no weight,a fit guy really, use a bike etc, run my springer, its the breathing when flat in bed, the other respondent mentioned cpap in regard to breathing or lack of lol, I book in with my GP and get checked, I value your comments and duly thank you for taking the time to help, really kind !!
~So sorry - intended to come back with brief comment - think most wise to check in with your GP and amongst other things I would ask if he/she can refer you to a sleep specialist to do a sleep trial at home. That way you are still in your own familiar environment. This is what I was able to do.Abundant blessings in meantime ~
