Yes, Skyblue, it takes a while to get used to the full face mask. When I first started I had the nostril appliance, which did nothing for me. Moving to the full face mask took a lot of getting used to in my case, but it paid off. In your situation, I have no idea how the fibromyalgia may affect the wearing of the face mask - that is something another person could perhaps comment on from experience. I am happy not to need the CPAP any more because, when I had it I was well over weight. Since I lost 40 lbs over a few years, I no longer need the CPAP!
I had to try 4 masks before I found one that worked for me...I use a nasal mask because I am mostly a nose breather. I still wake up alot, but not as much as I used too. I am 48 and going through menopause so my sleeping isn't very good.
When I was first put on Cpap over 2 years ago they started me off with nose cushions which were bad enough so I couldn't imagine a full mask, however as my leakage was bad the consultant insisted I wore a full mask, at that point I was actually getting use to the cushions so did a little research and thought I would give a chinstrap a try and that really did the trick, down from 68 episodes an hour to an average of 2 and leakage about 8 out of 24. I had to try about 6 different chinstraps and up with a Ruby one from USA. Good luck with it all.
