I'm currently waiting for a referral to sleep clinic for sleep apnea..been suffering for at least 3 years..last few months has been so hard..feeling like a drunk zombie all day, migraines, vision changes, snoring, choking, stopping breathing at night, raised BP, raised triglycerides, cant concentrate or think. Zero energy just want to sleep! Its also caused my ibs to go into overdrive. My gp phoned me today to say my triglycerides isn't high enough for a statin which is fine, I explained all my other symptoms and she just told me to lose weight... is she serious.. I can hardly function. So frustrating..said I've lost weight before so I can do it again! I even explained it runs in the family too. Useless. Anyone here who had untreated sleep apnea feel like this?

I did a short video for Sleep Matters about my Sleep Apnea not being diagnosed last year. So frustrating if not worrying, for some reason Doctors don't like the word Sleep Apnea. I pushed for my test and it was discovered I was having 68 episodes an hour, the safe limit is 5. My cardiologist said it was SA which had trigger off mt Atrial Fibrillation. My Cpap machine has me down to 2 an hour and I feel like a new person. PUSH HARD.
Thanks for the reply.. is it pretty normal to be this tired? I take my son to school and I have to go straight to sleep until about 2pm then go pick him up! I just feel drunk all the time. Everytime i eat anything it puts me into a coma tired like state ..not diabetic but I'm assuming sleep apnea can affect your digestive system .
I was tired all the time and it was a joke with my family and friends ( for over 30 years )that I could fall asleep standing up within minutes, no real joke as it can be dangerous. In my video I explained that it was ignored by two doctors, maybe because I am stocky but not really overweight. My current doctor after pushing gave me the NHS questionnaire, it asks varies questions about when you feel tired etc and I had I think 23/24 so had a test straightaway. Might be worth looking at the list and send the result to the doctors as they will have to address it and by the sound of it you will hit that score . In East Sussex there are 900 people with CPAP machines and I think that is why they have to be selective. If you can't find the list let me know and I will find it and post it. You shouldn't have to suffer with unaddressed Sleep Apnea. Kind regards Max
Thanks again for taking the time to reply to me. I've been investigated for all sorts, IBD, liver, pancreas, brain mri, abdominal ct scans all normal.. someone mentioned sleep apnea to me and it all makes sense.. i also have symptoms of low testosterone which apparently is also very common in sleep apnea for men. I feel like I'm dying thats the only way to describe it. My triglycerides are high, and BP is rising.
I asked my GP about sleep apnea and she gave me the questionnaire to fill out.. as it turned out I scored "severe" on that. She sent it off to sleep clinic and I phoned them the other week and they still don't have a date for me 😓
I will call them again in week or two to check again.. wish I had looked into this sooner before all these horrible symptoms appeared. My grandad also suffered with OSA and had a cpap machine.
I posted on the AF HealthUnlocked asking for help given that fact I was waking up 4/5 times a tight thinking I needed the toilet but didn't really, I then thought I would check my blood pressure when I got up, normally around 120/70 but it was around 160/85 during the night. Someone suggested I should get checked for Sleep Apnea and low and behold I did. My previous Doctor wanted to put me on bladder control tablets and another to up my blood pressure tablets. I am eternally grateful to the person who made the suggestion. I had various tests as well but nothing really showed up. It is unbelievable what sleep apnea can trigger off. Good luck with chasing them and hope it sorts out soon. It took my a number of weeks to get used to CPAP but now I just do it by habit and sleep like a baby. I am 67 , Kind regards, Max
these worked for me: wearing OXIMETER nightly, taking TMG (trimethylgycerine), B12, and Apple cider vinegar; my AHI is mostly good/mild nowadays; consult your doctors before trying
Before I was diagnosed with sleep apnea I was exhausted I had to sleep during the day and had daily headaches. Also sleep apnea isn't just caused by being overweight, they said I didn't fit the criteria as I want obese and didn't have a large neck measurement.I had a sleep study and have been on cpap over 2 years now.
