I've had sleep issues for years. I now take Zopliclone, Phenergan, clonazepam and dispersion at night. I go off ok but still keep waking up. I've tried adjusting them but if I don't take the Zopiclone and Phenergan I just lay there in an awake stupor. I've tried melatonin it doesn't help. I'd really like to sleep without meds but I know I'll lay awake all night and end up getting up at 4 or 5. Does anyone else have this problem on meds. I never feel tired in the day.

Can't sleep
Hi
I suffered with insomnia for a long period especially during the final years of my marriage and after splitting up and finally divorce.
That was quite a few years ago. What I have only recently found out is that mostly its to do with the amount of thinking that's going on when your brain is trying to switch off and complete the vital tasks that the brain needs to do.
Anyway, one thing that is really helpful is to write down what is troubling you so it gets these thoughts out of your head.
Then you can forget them until the next day when you can start to work on these issues.
As regards medication. I have only ever taken mild antihistamine tablets, which can help to make you a bit drowsy, and they may help with any slight allergy which sometimes causes breathing issues through the nose at night. Also combining all those different medications may be cancelling each other out
I have created a simple PDF which you may find useful.
