Earlier this year my Dry Mouth became very bad and it was waking every hour or less, so I had to reduce my Amitriptyline from 100mg to 50mg at night and I was taken off my medication to prevent attacks of Vertigo which left me with the medication I had to take when I got an attack. This as led me to still not getting a full nights sleep because my body is more tense having reduced the Amitriptyline, my sleep improved a bit but is not good. I have had to stop wearing my mask for sleep apnea for the present. Because of this I have had some time off work which led to me being threatened with a written warning but after some harsh talking to the manager they backed down, they didn't like it but it was there bad practices that gave me Osteoarthritis in my neck.

I have sleep apnea and use a BPAP, I am also an Insulin Dependent Diabetic and lack awareness of Hypos. One of the problems I get is a dry mouth and have two solutions that work for me.

One is a spray that you can get from Boots called Expert Dental Dry Mouth Spray which cost about £2.75. It contains a sweetener called Xylitol which encourages your mouth to salivate. For me it is a short term solution particularly when I have too much Blood sugar ( a hyper).

Two is a tablet (over the counter) called Xylimelt which contains the same sweetener but is slow release. You place the tablet (s) on your gum where it sticks and slowly melts throughout the night, keeping you salivated.

They are both on my bedside cabinet ready for action when needed and it is because of these aids I average 7.5 hours on my BPAP with less than 5 apneas an hour
