Hello everyone I'm a 21 year old female. I have struggled with anxiety and more specifically health anxiety for the last four years. My fears have ranged from brain tumor to sepsis to cancer to many other health issues. More recently my anxiety seemed to have eased until three months ago when I started having horrible anxiety n loss of apetite nausea insomnia etc because of the stress. Now,I never thought about my sleep before and I'd say i was generally a good sleeper. I could sleep from 6-9 hours at night easy and take napsnduring the day. At times when my sleeping schedule was disturbed due to upcoming events or travelling I didn't think much of it. But now its so much different. I started googling and came across sporadic fatal insomnia which absolutely terrified me. Then I went on YouTube and saw a man who was claiming he had developed fatal insomnia after taking antibiotics. In the comments people said he eventually died after a year of very little sleep with sleeping pills. It made me sick to my stomach and now I feel traumatised from it. I can't take the image or the story out of my head and now I live every day in fear and paralysed that this will happen to me. I'm currently on 15mg mirtazapine to help me with my anxiety and sleep, which it does, but because I kept stopping and starting the medication I am scared I might have done some damage in my brain and the part that regulates sleep. I dont know how to overcom this fear I'm struggling so much day to day and I can't enjoy anything anymore. Please help.

Hello,

I would stay off the internet in terms of researching what if’s & what could happen with your heath. You have youth on your side which is a big plus. As far as the video goes it’s hard to tell what is real & what isn’t. Try to focus on what’s good with your health. I have been on Mirtazapine for years & find it very helpful. When you have these negative thoughts about your health, stop for a moment to question the validity . Am I sick ? Do I really have this condition ? Be well & take care
