June Is Men's Health Month

If it's been over a year since you saw your GP or urologist - it's time to make an appointment. June's Men's Health Month is a great reminder to stay on top of your health, make sure your physician(s) know the latest about what we are experiencing, any changes that you may have noted, and see if there are any new treatments or management methods that might be of help.

So if you have been putting off what should be an annual review - take time NOW to make that appointment.

I do have my yearly appointment on June 25. I get a little anxious and nervous when I see him. He knows of my bladder issues, and prostatectomy/diverticulotomy 14 months ago. However, I get a little "sheepish" having him see me in a diaper. My urologist has, and that doesn't bother me. Why do I feel different with my GP. I've been thinking of trying to go to my appointment wearing basic briefs, but afraid of having an accident.

I think we have to try and remember that doctors have "seen it all." But yes, it's still not easy.

We have different relationships with different physicians - somewhat depending on their bedside manner, and how comfortable and relaxed we feel with them. But, I am glad that you are going ... smile, relax, and be confident, and that will help the whole situation be more comfortable for the both of you.

I hope others may have some ideas on how to lessen the nervous feeling and will share them!!
