This whole sickle cell thing is very confusing , I need to find out if someone can have this disease if only one parent has the trait. My husband recently found out that he has another daughter , he was told years ago she was not his , however she has sickle cell disease , now as far as we know my husband does not have sickle cell trait so am I right in thinking that he can’t be her father . Any advice appreciated ty

Each parent needs to have for a child to have a full blown disease. Only one parent having - the child may have the trait or be negative. Can’t a DNA settle all this?

No he isnt her dad. You need to get one sickle (S) gene from each parent. If one parent has no sickle gene (AA) to pass down than the child with SS or SC isnt his.
