Sickle cell fund raising.

Hi,

I am in the process of organising my Christmas & would like to buy my Christmas cards whilst supporting the sickle cell community and raising awareness. I have searched online to see whether there is any fund raising going on, whereby the buying of my Christmas card would send the funds to a sickle cell charity. To date I can find organisations that promote general medical charity (even though the Monies may be filtered through the big pot to eventually reach my cause).

Most of the other charities such as national autistic soc, Anthony Nolan etc all have sites where you can buy your cards that have their cause printed on the back (thus promoting awareness), but I have found nothing for sickle cell.

There is the option of ecards (internet sending), that will forward the money to your cause but that's not the type of greetings I am sending.

I did phone the sickle cell society but the fund raising department are not able to offer paper cards only the purchasing of online ecards..which is still a way to support the cause financially and does raise a little awareness to the recipient but not as much as a paper card on the shop counter, docs reception counter, work or school office etc...

Any sites that anyone knows of I'd be most grateful if you would share them on here.

Thanx

Hi linda, I don't know any either. I am going to a sickle cell fund raising this evening. I would like to forward your post to the organiser as this fund raising is done every year. I am sure they will see this as a good idea. There isn't enough fund raising or awareness for sickle cell. There should be more information for the public to understand sickle cell and how to avoid having kids with the disease.
