Hi FancyA

My granddaughter started to show sickle symptoms as she approached her 2nd birthday. Since then she has been to the hospital a number of times the last time was her left arm had swollen to twice its size and she would not allow anyone to touch it

The Doctors stated that they did not know what was causing it as there was no clotting of blood and there was no bone damage so they stated it may be an inflammation of some sort. They gave her antibiotics and it eventually got back to normal. I am still puzzled though as to why.

Your granddaughter needs to be tested to see if she has sickle cell or any other blood conditions. Make sure her mum get a copy of any blood test results with the ranges from the doctor otherwise she could be suffering for years, due to doctors not looking at past tests and notes.
