I'm 20 years old. I have been diagnosed to be a carrier of sickle cell or sickle cell trait when I was a child, I don't know if there is a difference but they said it like that (carrier).
But I believe I have been experiencing some of the symptoms of sickle cell disease. I have Muscle pain, Bone pain, Chest pain, Shortness of breathing, sometimes Joint pain, Legs and Arms pain; some days I can barely get off the bed, and headaches are almost daily, some days a headache start when I wake up in the morning and stay until I sleep in the night (the whole day).
Could they misdiagnose me? Should I take a test again to make sure? If not, what is the cause of these problems?

I also carry the trait and have had symptoms all my life recently I've had bad kidney pain, whenever I go to the doctors they say straight away it has nothing to do with the trait as there 30 year old medical journal or sometimes while iam sitting there Google tells them so! So I've had other tests and all come back normal so I must be nuts the pains in my head as it can't be the trait. I've recently paid private to see a specialist with in sickle cell who agrees that there can be symptoms in certain circumstances and is running her own tests. If you can't get your gp to refer u which I couldn't find a good one who is up with current publications on your own. Don't let them tell you your nuts! Your not
