Hello,I was diagnosed with ovarian clear cell carcinoma 1a in September 2023, and CA125 was 800+ pre-surgery.
At three month follow-up my CA125 reading was 4 , which seemed pretty good. The reading six weeks later was 19. While this number is under the threshold, I'm feeling a bit concerned as it has almost quadrupled...
I have read in a few posts that elevation can be caused by inflammation, and I have been fighting a nasty respiratory virus and pleurisy these past weeks...

yes. A rise of that many points could be tumor growth. I have had recurrences . I one case my CA125 was usually between 9-12 for the previous 3 years. It jumped to 18 in a month so I requested a scan. They did find only 1. Area of tumor growth on the transcending colon. I had surgery, chemo and a final surgery , a colon resection to have it completely removed. All was good after June 2020 until April 2022.
CA125 can be raised due to inflammation so it could well be because you have been unwell, could you ask for it to be rechecked in say 4 weeks to see if it has come back down, if it is still higher I would ask for a scan to be done. Best wishes x
Thank you bananayo and 0954 for your replies. You are both right, and while 19 is still under the threshold of 37, I will need to keep a close eye on this.
