CT SCANS DO NOT DETECT EVERYTHING

Cannot put total faith in CT scans! Scattered Minute lesions will not be recognized!!!! Case in point...... While on Zejula, rising numbers...... CT showed nothing...... Mt Onc, did a scope went in and showed many scattered sites.... too small to be picked up by the CT even with infusion.....Now, While on Lynparza, rising CA 125 in the hundreds... Not certain what will happen next.

So sorry to hear about your situation. I am usually referred for a PET scan if markers are rising yet CT scan is clear . Wishing you all the very best,D

I agree because my marker has gone up 3-4 pts. every blood test. Have had 2 petscans in 6 months and both declared "Clear/Clean". What scares me is that there is a little cell lurking in the peritoneum or some other place that will not rear its' ugly head until it is too late. My last test, I went down 4 pts. For this reason my oncologist/surgeon believes it can be my osteoarthritis (but had it long b4 Cancer) diverticulosis, but not active now, stress...Always Active!!!, oral problems, chemo ruined teeth, have surgery today to remove broken tooth. There are so many reasons for 125 to rise. It has become a guessing game. She told me that all is normal unless it raises up like 100 pts or more within 30 days. I will be NED 4 years come April and will be 82 then...so she says I am very lucky. I guess I am, but so lonely and nobody cares, except my 2 sons, but they are 2000 miles away, but always call every week.

I empathize with the loneliness. This is a lonely disease. All efforts go to taking care of my husband. My health is something of an afterthought.

I’m very sorry that you are lonely. It’s time like this that you need someone to talk to. I’m happy to be a ‘penfriend’ if you’d like to write. I’m in the UK. I’m assuming that you are in the US, but I may have got that wrong. I feel lucky to have family all around me, and although I’m kept ‘too busy’ with the grandchildren, it takes my mind off health issues!

That is so true listen to what your body is telling you my Onc schedule CT scan and it showed nothing However I kept insisting that something was going on my CA 125 was rising and I just "felt" something. I insisted on PET and of course I was right! Started doxil and carbo now all clear and on Olapirib. PET scan shows less than 1 mm and is specifically for cancer do not know why they insist on CT scans for this disease that can grow so fast..........probably cheaper is my guess.

Yes. A PET scan has to be pre-authorized by insurance company. CT is cheaper, but missed my tumors.

Hi. I always want a PET scan to light up rogue cells altho they don't catch the tiny clusters
