SLIGHT CONCERN OVER UPWARD TREND IN CA125

Was diagnosed in May 2019 with Stage 1 clear cell OC. After surgery, my CA125 settled at 9. Four monthly checks have revealed that it went up to 10 and now it's at 12. I know that the number is well within normal range, but should I be concerned that the trend is rising? Any thoughts appreciated, thanks.

Generally speaking, gynecologic oncologists will be concerned if the CA125 doubles or triples and is out of the normal range -- pretty sure that your doctor will tell you a few points up or down is not something to be concerned about. CA125 may be elevated for reasons other than cancer. It is very good that your cancer was caught at Stage 1.

Thank you for your reply. That's very reassuring. I count my blessings every day that it was caught so early...... I guess just a little paranoid about any changes. Thank you.

Totally agree with AndreafromSHARE a rise of just a few points is acceptable, a cancer diagnosis sets the adrenaline into overdrive unfortunately and its very difficult not to be concerned sometimes, that said its so important to discuss your concerns with your oncologist or link nurse, best of luck on your journey xx

Hi I totally understand your worry following your diagnosis. I was diagnosed with OC in 2019 mine was stage 2a. My oncologist registrar once told me there are 24 reasons why your CA125 could rise, for example inflammation, infection. to name just two.I agree with AndreafromSHARE your team will only be concerned if it doubles or triples out of the normal range.
