Options for assisting with Panic Attacks and Sleeping

After reflecting and reading posts I wanted to share another part of my journey. When I was diagnosed in 2015, for the first time in my life I suffered from panic attacks and depression. During this treatment cycle my general physician prescribed anti-depressants and sleeping pills. They were not the most effective but I made it through the 18 weeks of chemotherapy.

When I had a re-occurrence in 2017, given another family situation I had the perfect storm for an emotional crisis (reoccurrence and a sister dying). I was having severe panic attacks, thankfully I found Dr Nejad at Swedish hospital. He is a psychiatrist who specialized in cancer patients; but for me his true specialty is his complete understanding of medicines that can help with panic attacks, sleeping and other affects of treatment. His regime was truly a life saver for me and completely managed all of my symptoms. I would strongly encourage all of you to try to find someone similar to him because his regime was completely difference then my general Doctor.

Thank you for sharing this information. Psychologists who do not specialize in cancer patients are ill equipped to help cancer patients.
