Doxil/Carbo combination

Hello everyone:

Has anyone been in Doxil/Carbo combination for reoccurring Ovarian cancer. How was it. I am worried

I’m on my 2nd recurrence of ovarian cancer which I was diagnosed with on January 9, 2014(my 64th birthday). Previously I was treated with carbo/taxol but was switched to carbo/doxil for this recurrence. I had my 1st infusion last Wednesday, May 9. It wasn’t as bad as I feared, i did apply ice to my hands & feet when my chemo nurse started to infuse the doxil. Make sure you wear loose non binding clothing & loose open shoes, I wore a size larger crocs, you’ll also need to moisturize whole body with cream, like Udderly Smooth. Do not eat or drink hot or spicy foods & no hot showers, everything room temperature or cold, no friction on hands & feet. Wear lots of sunblock & sun protected clothing while outdoors because doxil makes you very sensitive to the sun. My chemo nurse said that after the 1st 10 days that I could gradually try to eat & drink hot foods & that if you do develop blisters to apply ice to the area for about 10 to 15 minutes. I also belong to Inspire.com & received a lot of valuable advice from my teal gals! Good luck with your treatment!! God bless!!

Thank you Chris for writing. That is the hard part, there is so much we can't do on this drug. No friction on hands/feet who can do that.

I have just started on this combination of drugs for my second recurrence of Ovarian Cancer. My original in 2009 was Carbo/Taxol which I had a very difficult time handling. I’m wondering if Doxil is as bad.
