The results of hysterectomy and immediate menopause are pretty tough to deal with and affect relationships with men and ahem romance . Any thoughts ?

Hi Alice,

This is a tough one, but I'll jump in. Romance has so many aspects -- a walk in the woods, dinner, exchanging life histories, hopes and dreams. Couples can be just as romantic before all this cancer happened.

If you're referring to physical intimacies, the doctors typically say that when you're healed inside, go for it (gently at first). And there are products on the market if you're dry.

Hope this helps.

I will be in the same boat after my surgery on Thursday :-( my oncologist suggested I start hormone replacement therapy. I know not all are suggested HRT for various reasons, so maybe it’s not an option for you? I wish I could help more! Definitely confide in your doc though, there’s help for that I’m sure. ❤️

Dear Alice, My gynie wanted to put me on a "vaginal ring", which releases estrogen to lubricate the vagina and keep it supple. My cancer was estrogen receptive, stage 3-C. She said "don't worry, your ovarian cancer will kill you within 2 years, before this will." I was so offended I left her office and her prescription. That was 9 years ago; I am so glad I didn't go with her plan. It does matter what we chose about our care. You never know what miracle may happen for you. Take care, and keep us apprised of your progress! 💖Margaret
