My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 advanced ovarian cancer.
She did 4 chemothrapy and after that did surgery , but surgeon told me as it was spread they couldn’t remove all that they could see. But they remove major tumors.
Doctor mentioned chemo after surgery and Avastin can help to destroy remaining cells.
Do you have any idea about this condition?
I am too worry about remaining visible cells. The size of them is about 1-2 milimeter.
Is there any body has similar experience.?
Could you please share your story or idea ?
My major concern is remaining cells.

While “optimal debunking” or leaving nothing visible behind is the goal of surgery, there can still be hope that the remaining cancer can be treated by chemotherapy. I had several spots left about the same size as your wife’s and I’m here to talk about it 14 years later. I was dx stage 3C high grade serous ovarian cancer in Feb 2005. I’ve had one recurrence and haven’t had chemo since Nov 2008.
No one knows if it really is why I'm here today or not. It was a phase one trial which means it was a very small group of women, many of whom aren't here anymore. On the other hand, maybe I did benefit from it, but statistically there's no way to know. There are so many factors that go into determining survival and looking at a sample of one doesn't tell you much. Basically we choose the options that seem best for our situations and our goals and we run with them as far as we can. Fortunately for me, I'm still a runnin'.
Hi, I was dx with stage3c high grade serous ovarian in 2013. Did chemo, debulking still had a spot on liver. With 1 recurrence have had chemo, Avastin chemo. Now on Zejula for almost 2 years. Spot on liver has calcified. No evidence of cancer so far. There are so many new drugs and keeping a positive attitude helps. Prayers to you both.
Hi Weemary, when I was on Avastin it created high blood pressure, so on meds for that. A little fatigue but nothing that stopped me from daily life. Now on Zejula and only have dry mouth. Been lucky to not have any major side effects. The docs keep an eye out for low blood counts. Doing good so far. Hope this helps.
Ok, I don't know where you live but my Dr is a godsend, Dr Amy Hakim Palm Springs California, affiliate of city of hope. I had stage 3c clear cell ovarian cancer diagnosis April 2014. My first called me after finding out she had stage 4 , throughout body given 6 months. 2 years later after taxol off and on for almost a year she's cancer free. There's hope. If your in the US, I would try to get her to city of hope all my chemotherapy was done there with a great team, Dr Hakim, Dr Michaela christea, Dr Han. Best wishes for great results. Liz
