Platinum resistant
Hello! I'm sorry to hear your mom is platinum resistant. I am also Stage 3c and found out in November I was resistant. My CA125 never normalized during the 6 rounds of carbo/taxol. My GynOnc said there were no clinical trials and started me on secondline treatment consisting of Avastin and Doxil.
Early on in my treatment I went to MD Anderson for a second opinion. They concurred with everything my GynOnc had set up for my treatment plan. I currently have a message into them to see what their opinion is on clinical trials.
A friend of mine has Stage 3 epithelial. She did 6 rounds of carbo/taxol/cistplan and was NED for 9 months. Her's just reoccurred and she had the option of doing a clinical trial or going back on carbo/taxol for 6 rounds. We have the same oncologist and had the same identical surgeries. I'm guessing the reason she qualified for a trial is because she was not platinum resistant.....or possibly becasue she had epithelial and I have clear cell.
I am currently researching alternate treatment solutions that involve stem cell replacement in Germany. I am in the US and although we have some great options in cancer treatment, I continually hear about more available treatments in Europe that haven't been approved here yet.
Hoping some other ladies on this site have some advice!
Hugs!

Diagnosef June 2013, 3c , Currently I'm on alimpta. First time chemo carbo/taxol. 2nd time carbo, (had bad reaction to gemzar) 3rd time now, began carbo, switch to cisplatin , then switch to alimpta. Have had only 1 treatment with this drug. Next one is next week. My doctor always tells me there are options. I signed all the paperwork for a clinical trial thought great, but couldn't pass the ekg for doxil which was one of the arms of the study. When I'm done with chemo I want to try lymparza in my "off season"
There are lots of drugs out there. Try and learn as much as you can. My friend came to an"options" meeting wirh me once, after we left he said, "it's like you guys are speaking a differnt language. Good luck to you.
