My USA oncologist zoomed called me to help figure out what happened with my HFS feet from walking on the beach. He saw this one other time so he knew I had walked out on hot sand… but it didn’t feel all that hot. Beware! The sun warmed sand burned my feet..

My husband did that same thing when we were in Cancun...he has very bad Nueropathy and didn't feel the hot sand 😩

Ooh that looks hot and nasty. I’ve been wondering how you’ve been managing to walk on the beach as I’d love to take a sunny trip myself! I’ve already got the hfs , straight off the bat, despite taking extra care . What’s the solution for you? Just extra icing and moisturizing and rest?

Well I’m super glad that when you came off your bike you weren’t injured more!

Take care xx

my HFS in first few days too. I use the 5% urea cream and can’t walk far without pain. My solution is to wear sandals… keeping air on my feet is best. Even big sneakers and socks are too much these days. Soak feet in epsom salts if they get bad. That has been helpful. Good luck.

Yikes! Hope it heals fast, and your hands, too! So happy you are in NZ for extended time. We head there mid April for a couple of months. We will miss the beautiful summer you are enjoying now, but couldn’t be helped. Thrilled you are there enjoying that beautiful landscape and your dear friends.

So happy you will get a chance to go! Summer has been great. I just love it all. So green and the ocean so blue.

Goodness, that looks like it hurts. I use a treadmill to walk when it is raining outside and would like to get a stationary bike too. I have a scooter and do not want to risk falling and breaking any bones, as I just haven't had the strength, nor the confidence with balance issues while on chemo. Although I miss using it, I know it is safer. So, I bought a car and it just makes my life easier, especially when it is raining. I hope you feel better soon. You are very lucky you just had some minor abrasions. Stay safe!

Oh no, that looks like it hurts! Glad you are okay. Hope your feet are doing better, those look painful too. You are such a resilient lady. Keep being strong. Sending you hugs and prayers.

You have motivated me! I’m heading out the door to walk as soon as the rain stops in sunny Florida!

Glad you are ok!

ouch. So sorry. I had similar foot blisters and red soreness from lots of walking in NYC. Someone posted to avoid folate. I stopped taking B complex and folate and now my H/F is extremely mild. You may even have to eliminate foods with folate

It’s true about the folate making hfs worse but it’s practically in everything I eat, so it’s so hard to avoid!

I think I would have to give up eating as I eat mostly fruits and veg which are full of folate.

Yes! When I was young as a backpacker and a few times with ultimate hikes the luxury way… and routeburn 3 times! Sadly my daughter and BFFs all did it again in January while I waited for them. But I was so happy they did it together!
