Any experience with Landmark?

My medical insurance referred me to Landmark, a fairly new medical program now in 10 states in the US that gets alot of referrals from United Health care abd Blue Cross-Blue Shield. I had my first appt with them today. A NP came to my house. They cost us patients nothing, all paid by insurance companies, and their goal is to keep us out of the hospital and nursing homes and living as independently as possible. They have NPs and physicians on call 24/7 and can provide urgent and or emergency care, as well as offering things like in home PT and other in home services. I really liked this nurse and will see her again in about a month.

My husband was skeptical! I did call United health care to make sure they are legitimate. And it makes sense to me that inssurance companies can save money by keeping us out of the hospital, plus that;s one of my goals, too

Just wondering if anybody else has heard from them.............

I am not aware of that company. Do you know if they work with Medicare? Glad to hear about them. Thank you for sharing!

If you have United Health Care or Blue Cross Blue Shield and live in one of the ten states they are currently active in!

My Dad is 90 and he has United Health Care (Medicare is secondary) and he has been in this program for as long as I can remember! My Mother in Law, as well. It is legit and they are very in touch. Let your husband know it is all on the up and up!! God Bless you!! 🩷

Thanks! I am healing well but having bandages on my hand isn't fun.

How was your experience with the NP? Many years ago the primary care Dr did far more care than today. My primary care Dr has x-rayed and set a broken bones, stitched me up and performed and emergency appendectomy (at the hospital of course). That was probably 30-40 years ago. Medicine has gotten so specialized for used to be simple procedures (maybe due to litigation or politics) that this makes sense.

a few years ago, Florida Blue invited me in to their program, similar to what you are describing. i liked having an NP visit the house monthly. in time, i was kicked out b/c i was seeing an oncologist. I fought it. they said i was already receiving care. then a year after being kicked out, i was invited again. i called Florida Blue, and they said the same thing, you’re not eligible because you see an oncologist. i reminded them that they invited me both times.

That sounds odd to me! I think the NP at the cancer center referred me to Landmark. Maybe you need to speak with both your onc and someone higher uo at Landmark. How is your area doing vis a vis the hurricane? Hope you and your neighborhood are safe! Sending love and strength....Pam

i concur that it is odd. perhaps i will inquire? i appreciate you asking about the hurricane. fortunately, all is well here; there were scattered bands of heavy rain and medium winds. receiving the love and strength.

Oh, yeah! Seeems like health care has been taken over by "big business" with profit being their major goal! I remember my family's primary care doctor doing my T + A when I was eight, with ether as the anesthesia, and then making a home visit when it turned out I had pneumonia! He was such a sweet mheart! Now it's impossible to get an appt with pcp for anything urgent! Even for those of us with cancer. My experience with the NP was very positive. She phoned about 15 minutes before she got here and was fine with coming in thru the garage--best way to come in without risking a cat escaping, LOL. We sat at the kitchen table. She explained that she'd be asking question, quite a few about current meds , medical history, current issues. Oh before she began those questions she had explained the release of info form she'd need me to sign so she could communicate with my doctors, plus another form which is escaping me but is routine these days! She also explained their seervices, in-home and 24/7, with telephone and Zoom acess to MD and NP. And that insurance companies contract with them as keeping us at home saves them money, plus we have no co-pay. I liked her! A couple of our cats liked her, and my skeptical ol' hubby liked her too. And I don't mind UHC saving money by keeping me more indepeendant! I think most of us want that! When I've seen lists of what average pay is for doctors of various, orthopedic surgeoons are at the top, and pcp, pediatricians and ob-gyns are at or near the bottom! Interesting, huh! If you have more direct questions, ask me. I really appreciate your note!
