my ca27-29 has gone up 2 cs. From 27-70-100. My last scan was March and it was stable. Now 100. Does this mean active?

Not necessarily as dying cancer cells also show up in the count. The test doesn’t differentiate between live and dead cells. The only way to be sure is a scan to check what the mets are doing.

Tumour markers go up and down for reasons that might have nothing to do with cancer. My number is below average so it’s not reliable at all. Even without cancer the number can be elevated so I wouldn’t be concerned after one increase especially with a recent stable scan.

My oncologist in Scotland doesn't measure those. Before it went down to 70 then began to go up again but I was still getting stable scan results. Good luck.

My tumor markers are usually a pretty good indication of activity, however, we always go by scans first. I’m not sure why we use the tumor markers when they aren’t always 100%.

Mine went from 27 to 70 and my oncologist ordered scans immediately. I did have a bone progression and changed from Ibrance to Piqray.

Hope you continue to be stable.

Alot of oncs don't use TMs at all because of the needless anxiety they cause. Scans are more reliable but how we feel is most reliable of all, what our bodies are telling us. If you feel stable, you probably are!

From my understanding sometimes inflammation can cause a rise in CA27-29 numbers. My Onc ordered only 1 time. I will request them every 3-4 months for my own benefit although not an exact determination.
