MBC lines of treatment- options
my onco said there were more options when my palbociclib Letrozole and denosumab fail and these are changing so fast. Despite previously being a person who gobbles up all the research about options i’m surprisingly zen and living each day without thinking about the next even though 3mthly scans often report some new possible area of progression then nothing. I will only look at the options once I get confirmed sustained evidence of progression. Enjoy your days months years.
I agree...there is a lot going on. Do not get ahead of yourself. There will be options.
Oftentimes faslodex alone or in combination with another drug. It is not a hard and fast rule, your doc would present you with her best clinical judgement for you.
There's lots. I was on capacetabine, which caused hand-foot syndrome, but Practice Update seems to suggest new guidelines on dosage. Then I was on Avastin (or the biosimilar) and Paclitaxel, then Enhertu, and now--the thing I like! Exemestane and Everolimus. Will find out if they're working when I have my next scan, but I feel good on them. If they fail, there's at least two other drugs: Elastecine (which I believe I've misspelled) and Trodelvy.
It's interesting because at my previous progression period my doc was all "still a number of options ahead"! And now I'm about to change to Everolimus/Tamoxifen, and she states, if this doesn't work I'm thinking Xeloda next. I thought 😱 because I teach fitness and she knows how much it means to me to stay active. Seems everyone gets that awful hand/foot syndrome on it Did you take the Xeloda for long?
Nobody has mentioned Kisqali (ribociclib) which seems to work when iBrance (palbociclib) doesn't, even though they are both CDK4/6 inhibitors, as is Verzenio (abemaciclib). See the following article for a discussion of the relative merits of the three CDK4/6 for advanced breast cancer: ncbi.nlm.nih.gov › articles › PMC7751387

Hello Kimberly...I had a 6 month PET scan the end of April and there was no sign of cancer. I have to admit that I feel the reason it disappeared was from prayer and taking turkey tail mushroom supplements. My daughter heard a seminar about this type of mushroom helping people with breast cancer. I started taking it in February and people asked me in March how I was feeling and I replied" I don't feel like I have cancer at all". Evidently I didn't!! It won't hurt trying it. Since my remarkable results I have shared my story to people I know who are suffering from cancer, any kind, so they can hopefully get the same results. I can't say for sure Turkey Tail Mushrooms are the cure, but I surely believe prayer and TTM were a huge part of my wonderful report. I get the supplements on Amazon. I wish you a long life ahead, Kimberly. Let me know if you have any questions. 💞
Thank you for sharing!!! There's this supplement that I take that has all these mushroom things In it and I felt the same way!! I had no evidence of active disease after 5 months. Thanks for sharing!!
Hi MushroomqueenI'm taking Turkey Tail and Mayake, alternating twice weekly with mistletoe injections. Do you have any research studies? I am happy to follow the protocol because of the positive correlation with longevity, but my doctors are not convinced.
But then, my onc has proposed no further line of treatment, so I've got nothing to lose.
I’ve just listened to a medscape podcast about the use of antibody drug conjugates for people who progress on cdk/ hormone positive treatment instead of using chemo. It seems to depend on so many factors nowadays ie what is causing the resistance to hormone therapies/cdk ie mutations and so many different treatments for each issue. Which gives me great hope!
I'm in the UK, I may be wrong but i don't think we have as many drug options as in the States. However, 'radiotherapy ' should be on that list as a 'treatment option'.As for other drug options I 'll leave that for your US friends to put forward.
Kind regards
