Radiation Mets to bones

hi friends! I was wondering if anyone can help me out here… I have breast cancer Mets to bones and I had 10 rounds of radiation 2 weeks ago! During that time I had to stop my meds! I went in to habe my markers drawn yesterday and they went up 30 points! Is this normal after radiation? I’m nervous I have not heard from my Dr yet being it is the weekend so I’m hoping maybe someone here has had something similar! Thx so much

I had to stop because of a burst apoendix. My next test I went up 20 then down 20 then down another 20. When I had radiation, I wasn’t being tested but I was a lot higher than now. It’s the overall trend that’s important. If you can look at a graph you get a clearer picture on the fluctuations. I was at 450-500 now I’m at 109. I’d been increasing steadily which was when they saw my cancer was now t/out my spine. Same applies to bloodwork. Don’t fret Chris

I’m trying not to! I have a pet scan set for mid July and I follow up with dr in July! Just seems like so many ups and downs with this medicine

I had a similar experience. My markers also increased a little but my doctor wasn't too concerned. She said it may be due to the cancer cells dying. The number soon dropped and then kept dropping. Try not to worry.

thank u. My numbers pretty much have stayed the same and fluctuate a little up and down for the last few months hit this spike had me worried. Last time I had radiation we didn’t draw the markers that month and waited a month it was like 7 weeks from the last radiation and they went down significantly so I’m hoping that is what’s gonna happen now

I'm sorry that my response won't help you - when I had radiotherapy I continued with my meds all the way through so there was no problem.

As others have said, I'm sure they will drop in time

best wishes
