My oncologist told me the new drug was finally approved by the FDA for metastatic breast cancer. I can't remember the name of the drug it just happened last week.
has anyone else heard of this. I live in the United States.

The FDA has been disappointing with their research becoming so politicized. I find it hard to trust the agency. I don’t trust their motives.
Yes, my onc told me also. I can’t remember the name either! We’re a fine pair!
There are people on this site who will know far more about this than me but I wonder if it was Troveldy which has now also been approved for ER-positive HER2-negative breast cancer. Or Orserdu?
was it this one? healthunlocked.com/share-me...
it is named Elacestrant. It is a SERD in pill form. My oncologist told me about it at my dr visit yesterday. It was final approval on Jan 27. She plans to have me take it next after Taxil (chemo). I can tell Taxil is losing its grip so it will be soon for me. My onco is very excited about this new drug.
Oserdu is the commercial name for elacestrant. It is approved only for ESR1 mutation. Clinical trial showed it does not help people with ER+ HER2- who do not have that mutation but is very good for people who have resistance to AI's because of ESR1 mutation. It is exciting because other meds are defeated by ESR1. (But disappointing for those of us developing resistance not from that mutation.)
Trodelvy received accelerated FDA approval for a different metastatic cancer (urothelial). It is an infusion, with the usual side effects. Sounds a lot rougher than elacestrant. Claimed to be effective on mbc, but perhaps not approved yet for us.
