A couple of months ago I was struggling with the dosage schedule of IBrance 100 mg. I wrote (extensively) about the 5/2 schedule that I hoped would mitigate the Low ANC numbers and poor RBC/WBC counts. I was extremely worried about having to wait two weeks before restarting my cycles.

First thank you to all the ladies who responded, offered suggestions or wondered about the 5/2 schedule.

Well, two months later, I am relieved and happy to say that the new 5 days on and 2 days off schedule is working very, very well. I don’t have the crashing depression and fatigue that I experienced before. I restart my new cycle right on schedule and feel much more “normal” …can play golf and enjoy activities without worrying that I’ll be affected by the dreadful 6+ days of feeling too low to do much of anything.

I did develop acid reflux during the night time hours but again, the ladies came to my rescue and suggested I try taking the IBrance earlier in the day, not after supper. Now I take it in the. I’d afternoon with a cup of tea. The acid reflux is now gone. I’m feeling pretty glad that I have this lovely community of fellow ladies who are interested, can help, and whom I can hope to help in return…I hope!🥰

i'm really glad that worked out so well for you. This forum is great!

It does make you wonder, though, why the oncologist can't recommend these changes him/herself. You've obviously got a much better quality of life doing it this way!

You might have to convince your oncologist to try this 5/2 even though many people are on it Insist that you try it or get a second opinion. It is more common now. They were just exploring when he refused to try it.

I've been promoting the 5/2 schedule here for years. After a couple of months on the 21/7 schedule with side effects, I persuaded my onc to let me try 5/2. Worked for me until the Ibrance stopped working. Going on new drugs soon, but the 5/2 schedule seems to be more and more common and I think is easier on your body.

I agree wholeheartedly…it makes more sense to me and I feel better! Also, the completed trials show that it’s working just as well…thank you for your response. I hope this gives others an opportunity to feel better as well !

I am happy to hear this! And thank you for the link.

I just started ibrance 2 weeks ago and I don’t have my first bloodwork until Monday, but I had issues with my neutrophils when I was on chemo and when I tried kisqali so I’m not expecting any different with this.

I started with 75mg on the 21/7 cycle and we’ll go from there.

Keep on feeling good!!
