side effects of fulvestrant especially weight gain any comments? thank you
I haven’t experienced weight gain with Fulvestrant (Faslodex). And I need to gain weight !
I was overweight when I started Fulvestrant and I gained more. Maybe it was the thickening of the uterus wall which turned out to be negative. Since last Christmas till June I lost weight steadily and stopped at 150 lbs. Don't know why other then the change of meds.Hope this helps.
Cheers, June S.
Any lack of estrogen in the body facilitates weight gain, which is why women gain after menopause. My doctor said the only cancer where you gain rather than lose is breast cancer!
I was the told the same thing. If a breast cancer patient loses weight, there is a concern. I've expressed my concerns of weight gain for the past two years, but my scans are excellent!
I was told by onc nurse when I started Faslodex that many patients on med have experienced weight gain. Yes, I’ve put on a few but the med working so that’s ok!
I am on Kisqali and have gained a lot of weight too, but I figured it was also the steroid which made me eat a lot more than normal.
Hi! I have lost weight on my combo of Ibrance and Fulvestrant over the 22 months I have been on this first line combo (about 12 lbs.) which has been gradual. I really only feel like eating one meal a day so it’s more about that change. Other side effects attributed to both meds are skin and hair (texture and thinning from lack of estrogen). The bottoms of my feet are peeling as well as the skin on my fingertips. Occasionally I feel “wonky” for a day or two each month but that’s about it. Combo got me to NED in 15 months so I will stay the course until it stops working and I have to make a change. Lin
I’ve been on fulvestrant for a little over a year. No weight issues. However, I was consistently constapated until I started Verzenio which causes diarrhea and bloating. A gastrointestinal roller coaster.
On faslodex for year and ibrance. Yes weight gain. I contribute it to the meds and menopause mostly. My appetite has decreased. But not the weight. The meds make me feel a bit tired so not exercising as I should.
