I was diagnosed with MBC in March of 2021. I am currently on Halaven which is my fourth line of defense. Hopeful!

I had 12 cycles of Halavan back in 2015. It was the easiest chemo drug I’ve taken. Really had no side effects and hair grew back some while I was taking it. Then was switched to tamoxifen for about 4 years and now Ibrance and Letrozole the past 2 years. Staying stable. Scans again in August. I hope you will do well on Halavan.

Welcome to this supportive group. I was diagnosed in June 2021 and found the link to this group back in January.

It’s the best. I check it every day and even if there isn’t something relevant to my situation, there’s always a story of hope.

And when there is something relevant, it’s great to learn and/or be able to help someone else through our experience.

All the best on your new meds

It has very few side effects for me. My tumors have stabilized. Fingers crossed!

I noticed this was quite a few months back. Are you still on the Halaven?Did you have any problems with fevers?

After infusion #2 of cycle 1,I ran a temperature of 102 for just 1 day. The oncology criteria says to go to the ED when it is greater than 100.4. Four days later I was released from the hospital and in worse shape than when I went in. Do you have any ideas on how to avoid the fever?

I hope you are doing well.

Thanks

Sharon

Hi Sharon

Yes, it happened only once. My temp was also 102 and I had pretty bad chills. It was gone the next day. My doc did labs and tested for Covid, flu etc and could not find anything. I’m pretty sure it was a Halovan side effect. Glad to hear your feeling better.

Anne,Thanks for the reply. The hospital did all of those tests, too. I have had a 1 day fever from vaccines and some of my other drugs, also, so that's why I thought it was the Halaven.

Tomorrow is #2. 🤞it doesn't happen again.

Thanks again for your time.
