I have life long hay fever type allergies to things that cannot be totally avoided like trees, grass, house dust, and now have lung issues too. Would appreciate hearing anybody's wisdom!

Hi,
I like the brand Austin. You don’t have to replace filters very often and works well. Was recommended by my Naturopath.
I’ve had fragrance sensitive cough-variant asthma for 38 years and I also have a lung condition called bronchiectasis. I have used Winix brand room size air cleaners for years. They have a true hepa filter, a carbon prefilter and a washable prefilter. I always had one in my office for clients wearing perfume and I have one in each room of my apartment. They work great, but the filter packs are a bit pricey. I even travel with one in my large suitcase because so many hotels are fragranced. Oh yes, they are quiet. Take care. Sashay
I did yes. A Bonaire tower model with 3 filter system, though I found I don't really need the UV filter. I do like the air filter & the ionizer filter features. Because my apt. building was built in the 70s & to my knowledge nobody's made any DEEP changes to the buildings (especially the ventilation system) only cosmetic, it's horribly dusty. You should see my vent covers 🙈🙉🙊😖. I think it's made a difference in my breathing.
It's great to hear that it's helping your breathing! I looked up ratings in Consumer Reports, and found a good price for the air purifier that they rated well plus called it a good deal (price). I'm hoping it will help my allergies! I've got so many "minor" things wrong with my health, not especially scary like cancer is, but bothersome on a day to day basis. It would be wonderful to get my allergies under control.
I have two Honeywell air purifiers, and also have an electrostatic filter on both heating and air conditioning units in my home. My son in law recently got a uv light to install on the heating and air conditioning units as well. I think it makes a huge difference as far as hay fever symptoms which seem to have gotten worse with the cancer treatments. My allergies were really bad for the last two weeks, and I realized one of my filters was dirty and needed replacing. My allergies seemed a lot better within a day of changing the dirty filter. Hope this helps!
I really appreciate all the replies! I didn't expect that so many of us would have these breathing/lung/allergy problems. I'm looking forward to getting the air purifier I ordered and putting it in the bedroom. I probably should have gotten one a long time ago. I wonder why allergists and other doctors don't suggest this!
i use two Air Doctor purifiers, one in the bedroom and one in the living area; friends have liked them that they purchased them, also. i can feel and hear when they are working, it kicks in to high mode when it senses pollutants in the air. additionally, i can see they are working when the filters are changed, similar to when changing the HVAC filters. many of the well being professionals i follow, use them; i did research prior to purchasing. the purifiers and filters are pricey and worth it! the filters are changed twice a year or sooner, pending the contaminants in the air, as indicated by the filter lights.
Oh, yes. I did a lot of research to find the best at a reasonable cost as I wanted 3 of them. I found that IKEA had the best. I also bought the connector that lights up if the air is bad it was about $15 or so. I have to say that the one in my bedroom was on and when I woke up, it was like fresh, clean, crisp air. They are just amazing. I also bought the carbon filters too for extra cleaning.
