New medication on the horizon - Samuraciclib

I want to share some information with the group, about a new medication in trials right now called Samuraciclib. It was introduced at the San Antonio conference in September of 2021. It is a CDK/7 inhibitor for HR+ metastatic breast cancer. It is different than the CDK 4/6 inhibitors now being used. From what I can understand, it has less side effects and isn't as harsh on the immune system as the CDK 4/6 inhibitors and will be available as a secondary line of treatment after failure of the CDK 4/6's. My doctor said it is being fast tracked for approval by the FDA. I'm not sure if anyone has posted about this before, but I wanted to share. For me, it was another new glimmer of light in the horizon of living with MBC.

Thanks for the reference. Here is a link to the article: healio.com/news/hematology-...

More work needs to be done. However, so far, these are the results:

"Samuraciclib plus fulvestrant demonstrated durable efficacy among a small cohort of women with hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative metastatic breast cancer, according to study results presented at San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium.

Researchers observed this benefit for women with breast cancer previously treated with cyclin-dependent kinase 4/6 inhibitors, and specifically among those with no liver metastases and with TP53 wild-type disease."
