Letrozole Joint/Muscle Pain

I've recently switched to Afinitor & Letrozole. The side effects, joint & muscle pain, of Letrozole are taking a toll. Currently, I take both in the morning with just water. Would taking them both at night help? Or maybe Afinitor in the am and Letrozole in the pm? Any tips appreciated! Thanks, Melinda

I sympathize with you about the joint and muscle pain with letrozole. Being more active, and sitting less, seems to help the joints but, stairs are always somewhat difficult. I don't notice a change in joint pain during the day so don't think the timing of meds makes a difference.

I take ribociclib which is three weeks on, and one week off. I always take the two meds together (with food) at lunch, and don't notice a difference in my joints during the week when it is letrozole alone.

I think my age may have a bearing on my difficult joints but, certainly, cancer meds have not helped.

Hugs,

Cindy

Move! Sitting in one position for too long is the death of my joints...I find getting up and moving around more often than not helps a lot, as does exercise. My onc blames the letrozole on the joint stiffness.

Another letrozole sufferer here. Basically oestrogen is a natural anti inflammatory and the letrozole strips out the oestrogen. I take turmeric daily and use ibuprofen gel and paracetamol when I can't cope. Keeping active does help and I've just started a yoga course to see if I can get better flexibility

I used to take letrozole at night. Woke up with stiff joints but starting to move around and walking helped.

Me too! I take letrozole at night. That said,, my hair is very thin, my skin started to really wrinkle and thin. I will put up with it so long as it is effective in helping me live longer.

So that's what it is! I thought I pulled a muscle I didn't know I had or injured something. I take it pretty late at night -- just started last week -- but it sounds as though taking it in the morning might be better because one is moving around when up, less so, one hopes, when sleeping.

Someone had posted a few months ago that they changed the timing to overnight and it had helped. I decided to try that but I couldn’t say it changed anything. In fact it made me forget to take my tablets so I went back to having the ibranc and letrozole together in the morning. 🌷

Hello everyone. I just started this journey in February. Cancerous tumor in my right breast very scared. But reading your comments have eased my nerves dome. My oncologist started me on Letrozole 2.5mg to try and shrink the tumor some before removing the Lump. All I can do is pray and trust God. And prayers for all of you
