Hi
I’ve not experienced this, I’m also on Ibrance for Four months now. I really recommend that you tell your oncologist asap…to eliminate it being a possible side effect. I recently had a mild case of Covid even though triple vaxed…and I felt a bit heavy chested then, without having any cough.
Hope you feel better asap. Anxiety can also make you feel this way….but still please tell your Dr.
Drink lots of water through out the day not only when taking your meds and try to get some fresh air to help you relax.
Wishing you all the best, take care.
Love Zoe xx
Hi There, I experienced tiredness and shortage of breath but it all went away the second round, and now on my 4th round, I am happy to report no side effects. 👍 hang in there, it may get better for your too!
No, I have not but it’s listed as a potential side effect and one they we’re to report asap to our oncologists. I like Zoe’s suggestions to drink a lot of water and other. Hope very much you can see or speak with your doctor vey soon and find relief from this. Take good care! Kathleen
I had slight shortness of breath while on Ibrance. Doc said it was the effect of that medication on my red blood cells, resulting in low haemoglobin. Breathlessness stopped when I stopped taking Ibrance and moved to new meds.
I am on Verzenio less than a year. It is apparently a sister drug to Ibrance which didn''t work for me but Verzenio is working very well. No shortness of breath. Maybe it is something else.
Cheers, June S.
Hi. It’s interesting. You are saying that Ibrance did not work for you but verzenio is working well. For how long were you on Ibrance and now on Verzenio. I was on Ibrance for one year and then I got a progression. Now I am on Xeloda and and it’s my fifth line over 2.5 years. My MO once told me that Verzenio is still an option. How are you tolerating it?Best,
Marina
I was only on Ibrance for a short time and should have given it more of a chance. It was interrupted by a breast surgery in 2020. Then I went through the Xloeda and the others and ended up on Verzenio last December. It failed the first round but has stabilzed on the second one of three months.
Cheers, June S.
Hi June, it’s interesting. My oncologist changes meds if it fails after three months. Good luck Marina
Hi Marina: My oncologist changed my meds at 3months also as soon as there was progression. However, I felt that the increase was small and so the med was doing it's job and sure enough it turned out to be stable. Everyone has to decide for themselves.
Cheers, June S.
I did and periodically coughing spells.
I’m on my second round of Ibrance, Letrozole and received my first Xcheva shot. I had a bad rash. But nothing else. To echo everyone else call your onc. first thing today. I know my onc wants to know everything going on. I am Lobular ER/PR+ HER- bone Mets and lymph. If it is a side effect there is Kisquali and Verzenio or switch out of Letrozole.
But call your onc. Better to be safe
Hello! Yes, shortness of breath is common in the use of IBrance…it affects (lowers) your red blood cells which carry oxygen. I usually start to feel better after a couple of days in my 4th week. Then as my IBrance 100 mg progresses into the second and third weeks, I experience more breathlessness during walking, etc. Two years ago I had started on 125mg but after several months of delayed restarts ( two instead of a one week break) it became obvious that lowering the IBrance dosage would be helpful to staying in this MBC marathon. In my experience it was helpful to use a lower dosed therapy that doesn’t affect my body so negatively. Balancing act. Do consult with your oncologist and keep that conversation going so the best decisions are made for you. 😍
Hi, I was on ibrance a year and a half .I had on and off shortness of breath BUT that being said I got interstitial lung disease and was yanked off it.Its a deadly side effect...I don't think that's what is happening to you being on it a short time BUT IT IS IMPERITIVE YOU CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR...this is not to scare you and like I said it's unlikely being on a short time but at least ask. They will take an oxygen level and Xray...A month off it my lungs recovered but I can't take anything in that class .I am only on the immunotherapy right now and scans came back no evidence of mets....Going to oncology today to see my options or just stay on exemestine..I am a little nervous not being on chemo for 4 months but my scans were good..Good luck to you honey its one day one appt one test one breath at a time.
Much love
I’ve been taking Ibrance for 9 months and I still experience shortness of breath but not as much as in the first few months. I’ve had a more recent pet scan. My oncologist says I don’t have lung cancer and it isn’t the meds. He says I should see my GP Now I’m thinking it’s the meds
Since inflammation of the lungs is a side effect you should call your oncologist and tell him or her.
Ibrance can do permanent damage to the lungs! I was on it just a few rounds shortly after it became FDA approved and before this was widely known. I can never take it magain, now have added two Rx puffers to my daily meds, have to see a pulmonologist regularly and still get out of breath easily and extremely in hot weather. call you onc today ! I'd suggest not taking another Ibrance until your onc has explored this with you, but I am not a medically trained person and am basing this on my experience.
Definitely report this side effect to your oncologist. He/she needs to know. Ibrance is still working for me after 24 months with very few side effects. Best of luck to you!
hi. i do not have personal experience with Ibrance. however, SOB...'shortness of breath'...should never be taken lightly....regardless of the cause. it warrants further investigation. like many others have already advised, please call your oncologist asap to discuss. wishing you the best and please keep us posted!
hugs,

I did. At that time it was not a “known” side effect. Now it is. Be careful. It can be lethal according to the ads.
I've been on Ibrance for 9 months and have experienced this shortness of breath feeling - not constantly, but from time to time. I think a lot of it is to do with anxiety.
I do have lung and pleura mets, but have been told they are too small to affect my breathing. I regularly check my oxygen levels with the finger oximeter and my sats are always ok - ranging from 96% - 100%.
I think as it is not a constant feeling, it is more likely to be subconscious worries at the back of my mind.
