Help with my nausea

I have been experiencing waves of nausea recently. Switched from letrozole to faslodex 9/2021. Seems to be a little worse in the past 30 days. I spoke with my oncologist whom says it’s just anxiety…….I am not sure about that as it comes randomly and at times that are not anxiety provoking situations. Starting to get car sick as well which is new. Had CT scans (routine) that were all stable. Any ideas? I work full time and it is starting to interrupt my work flow.

I am sorry to hear you're contending with nausea, which unfortunately is a fairly common treatment-related side effect.

Below is a list of mitigation options which are explained more fully in my book, "The Insider's Guide to Metastatic Breast Cancer," which is also available as a complimentary .pdf. For information about approved therapies, cutting edge research and more, visit insidersguidembc.com

I hope you feel better soon!

Anti-nausea remedies other than drugs:

• Acupressure

• Acupuncture

• Chewing Gum

• Ginger

• Massage

• Queasy Pops

• Sea Bands

Drugs that can relieve nausea:

• Antacids

• Anti-Anxiety Drugs

• Cannabinoids (including the newly-approved drug Dronabinol)

• Dopamine Antagonists

• Neurokinin 1 (NK1) Receptor Antagonists

• Olanzapine

• Serotonin 5-HT(3) Antagonists

• Steroids

• Varubi IV

Do you have ductal or lobular? I have both and the lobular showed up in my stomach lining as it can do. I started out not wanting to eat much and after a few months it turned into intense vomiting. It doesn’t show up on a scan. Must be found on an endoscopy as far as I know since it is inside the stomach. Have you been losing weight without trying? Anyway, hopefully that’s not what you have, but keep tight tabs on how your stomach feels. Good luck!

I take a prescription anti nausea medication every time I take opioids. Prescribed by my oncologist, works very well.

Hey there,

I am not on falsodex, but I take Verzenio. My suggestion for nausea is if it’s weak, have ginger chews in your bag. For me, the crystallized ginger (I wipe of the sugar as it is too sweet) is good if the nausea is a very minor wave. I also have “Freeze dried ginger”( it’s nit crystallized/no sugar at all). The freeze dried ginger is more effective (much worse taste though….You can order on Amazon. It is hard to find). If the waves keep coming, please ask your Oncologist for a prescription for Zofran(Ondansetron). If you take this, you will be golden. I am on so many meds, so I take it only when the ginger isn’t effective.

Bestbird suggested a “Sea Band”. That can help with car sickness. It’s a real thing! But again, I don’t leave home without 2 bags of ginger!!! Good luck!!

Zofran does work very well and the sea bands do also. I have used both with success. Good luck.

When I first started on the Ibrance/Letrozole I experienced a lot of nausea and work as well. Taking Zofran worked but made me severely constipated and I had to try something else. I found that ginger tea worked very well in the morning to quell things. I would cut up pieces of gingerroot and allow them to steep in hot water, stronger than tea with ginger powder in it. You have to strain it after it steeps. My oncologist suggested Siggis yogurt as a probiotic and I was surprised that this helped as well, and eating bland foods. I’m over a year on this now, no more nausea (lasted a few months) and can eat pretty much anything, so I think the body eventually gets used to the drugs. Hope you start to feel better.
