I’ve recently completed my third round of IV chemo. I have Mets in my liver and bone. I’m going to start Faslodex / Piqray . Any suggestions
I am on Piqray and faslosdex for a few months. I have diabetes from the meds. Dr Foley from Sloan Kettering treats this condition. I am in Rochester NY and he works with my oncologist. I have a Libre sensor to monitor my glucose level. Currently I am taking a break from Piqray and my glucose is back to normal.
I will see my oncologist next week to see when I go back. My cancer type is 27-29.
Best to you in your quest for treatment. Any questions, I am here. Reenie
I also got diabetes from Piqray, but once off, my diabetes went back to normal. It is a very harsh med. Can read more on my blog. Faslodex was fine. My MBC is to the bone and liver like yours. I am currently on oral Xeloda chemo. Next step will probably be IV chemo. Did your IV chemo help you?
I was on Xeloda and it made me exhausted. I do not like the drug. My husband of 48 years said my personality changed and I was nasty. Glad that is over. The Piqray is strong. I am on a break and will see what’s next. This is such a nasty disease that impacts the whole family. I have diarrhea even though I’m off Piqray. But then again I had a gastrojujunostomy so I don’t know what my plumbing is like. They closed up my stomach and rerouted my intestines. Complicated!!
I just keep positive. 👍
Hello thanks for the info. My IV Chemo was Carboplatin and Gemcitabine. My mass in the liver decreased wonderful. I have had Ibrance and Letrozole before this worked for me 3 years. Now we are going to take Faslodex and Piqray. I hope my body can handle this.
About 20 % get diabetes. I am off Piqray for a few weeks and the diabetes is gone but I have low blood sugar. I will probably go back next week. I also lost 32 lbs. couldn’t eat. I eat and eat now that I am on break. We’ll see once I go back on. Have as good new year to all. Reenie
Thank you for your input I do not want Diabetes I have Cancer that keep coming back for 12 years now. I have had IV Chemo three different times 6 rounds each time. Ibrance and Letrozole worked great for 3 years. Just completed IV Chemo now Faslodex and started Piqray today.
I was diagnosed with bone mets in the autumn of 2020. Ibrance worked for a year, then progression to liver. So was switched to Faslodex 6 weeks ago. Have found it to be easy to tolerate, both in terms of the regular injections and the side effects. No experience with Piqray though. Good luck.
I’ve been on PIQRAY and Faslodex injections for 3 months and have had NO side effects other than some mild diarrhea. My oncologist said I was her first patient not having a rash from PIQRAY which made me very happy! I am hoping it is doing the trick for at least a year! My previous treatment of Letrazole and Ibrance didn’t last past 5 months. I was diagnosed in 2/2021 with Mets pretty much every where! I hope you have as much success as I have had with NO symptoms.
I’ve been on Piqray and Faslodex since Dec 1 and love it. It’s eradicating much. Hints. Buy gel cap shells on Amazon and slip the drug into it before swallowing . In this way you’ll dodge mouth and stomach sores. It does cause your sugar to spike so I was prescribed Metformin to counteract this and not go diabetic. Metformin is used by diabetics so my onc got me on it immediately. Good luck !
I took Piqray 300 mg for ten days , had bad allergic reaction. Went to ER meds stopped. After two weeks I tried 200 mg with same bad allergic reaction. I’ve never had this with any medication since diagnosed in 2008. I’m continuing Faslodex doing good. Thank you for your response. Take care! Jen
Hi , I have been on Piqray and Fulvestrant for about 5 months now . I take a 10 mg pill of Zyrtec(one hour before the Piqray pill) to avoid getting rashes . My friend who was on this same medicine told me she did this. My doctor is ok with me taking the Zyrtec pill as well .The Piqray and Fulvestrant have been shrinking my tumors Best of luck to you all 💗
