For me, I had no hair loss until about month 7 when I seemed to be losing a considerable amount each day. It wasn’t to the point where anybody but me was aware of it but I was getting concerned. It lasted several months and then stopped as quickly as it began. Now I hardly lose any and I have a lot of new sprouts re-growing.
Hi Kathy - My experience is similar to Sandra’s with regard to thinning hair. I started Ibrance in August 2020. My hair thinned a bit but now seems back to normal.
Hi Kathy. I was a hairdresser all my life and I’ve had very very curly hair all my life. Last year I decided to shave the sides and a bit of the back off into a faux mohawk style, cause I couldn’t stand how wirey, thin and frizzy it was. I do think that Ibrance and letrozole/ anastrozole for the past 3 and 1/2 years has really taken its toll on my hair.
I have been on Ibrance/Letrozole for just over a year now. I started experiencing hair thinning after a few months on the treatment, but have not lost my hair. The volume has decreased by about half, but it is not really noticeable to anyone but me as I had a lot of hair before. I have bought a couple of nice wigs for when I go out as they make me feel better about myself. I get my hair cut short and get it colored about every 10 weeks. Other than this hair thinning my only other side effect has been achiness in the mornings, but getting up and moving helps with that. Best of luck to you on this treatment.
Hi Kathy. I was in my second year of Ibrance(100mg)/letrozole treatment when my hair started to get thin. I ended up getting a topper (like a toupee) which I used for about six months then my hair began to grow in again. It has since recovered and remained its original thickness (next month I'll be entering my fifth year of Ibrance/letrozole). It's a bit dry and straighter than it ever was, but I'll take it!
Good luck with your treatment.
Warm hugs,
Susan
Hi Kathy, My hair started thinning in one spot after about 3 yrs on Ibrance at the 125 dose. I had other side effects from the cumulative use, so the dr reduced the dose and my hair grew back and the side effects went away.
Best wishes.
Hi, I’m on my 12th cycle of Ibrance. My hair started to thin around the fourth cycle but in the last couple of cycles I don’t seem to be losing as much. It hasn’t grown back in though. My hair was naturally curly and it went straight (and often straight up!) for a few months while it was thinning. The curls seem to be coming back now though. It’s been an adventure getting up each morning and seeing what I had to work with each day!
Hi Sandra. Thank you for your reply. I’m doing well on Ibrance and letrozol combo. Have fatigue only. So far no hair loss. Should it happen I will not be upset. My partner lost all her hair during chemo. As a result I have access to really cool head coverings. My next doc appt is Jan 27. Cancer markers elevated but still in normal range. Next blood test Jan 27. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year. Kathy
My hair loss started almost immediately and I lost a lot of hair! It’s been 9 months now and I’m not losing hardly any now, so maybe it’s just until the body adjusts? Good luck to you.
I started Letrozole 2 months ago and Ibrance 1 week ago. I have extremely think hair and have been shedding all of my life. Over the last few weeks I have noticed that I am shedding way more than usual. My hair is everywhere.
My hair loss started this year after 3 years of being on Ibrance. Ugh
