Food tastes terrible

I have been on verzenio a month. All food tastes terrible. Any suggestions?

Funny you say that I do the same I just finished 2 bowls of icecream and always eating dark chocolate other food just doesn’t seem to taste right but I do eat it can’t live on chocolate and icecream alone

I was on Ibrance for 3-1/2 years and pretty much lost my sense of taste altogether or sometimes tastes weird. I read somewhere than zinc can help, so I've been taking 30 or 50mg (whatever I can find) and it helps. Savory food is okay, not great, but I cannot taste sweet at all. Zinc is cheap and certainly worth a try.

I’m on Ibrance and Letrozole, and have the same problem. To make things worse, things don’t taste the way I remember them tasting or expect like what they should taste. I end up taking a bite of things I used to really like…..take second bite not understanding why it tastes wrong….by the third bite I’m pushing the plate away and saying “I don’t like this anymore”. It’s strange and disappointing. I have no solution but if you find one, I would love to hear it to give it a try. I miss liking food.

I have the same issue on Exemestane and Everolimus! Sweet things taste slightly better than savoury but food mostly tastes like cardboard. Salt in food tastes the worst. Alcohol tastes especially terrible so I can no longer enjoy a (very occasional) glass of wine either. 🤢I mentioned this to my oncologist yesterday and he suggested making food that is heavily flavoured but my stomach wouldn’t cope with that atm. It prefers plain and bland. Perhaps highly flavoured food might work for you?🤞

I really miss enjoying my food but I have lost a few pounds and that’s without doing any exercise! Vicki

Sorry your experiencing this taste issue. I haven’t had that problem. My sister in law has a condition that causes a lot of chest infections and congestion. Food often has no taste as she looses her sense of smell. To keep her weight up she has a shake called Complan. It comes in milk shake flavours like vanilla, strawberry and chocolate and you can buy it at pharmacies. Each serving is around 400cals.

May be something like this will help to fill you up and not taste so bad?

I have been on Verzenio 125 mg 9+ months and everything tastes the same as it did, for me, before the cancer diagnosis. I could stand to lose some weight though!

Hi there, I am on Verzenio since February 2022. Food has lost it’s taste. I feel exactly as you do….. The only thing I seem to have passion for is white carbs. It is all about pasta at the moment or White bread, white rice. I have Intermittent nausea, so Maybe that’s a factor. How is your digestion? That seems to challenge most people?
