Does anyone know if you need to stay away from spicy food while on Ibrance?
I was only on Ibrance for three months but immediately realized when I had red sauce (Italian) or something spicy I got heartburn immediately so I always bought a container of the chewable antacid tablets. Now I am on Verzenio (which I love compared to the Ibrance but I am on lowest dosage) and things I stopped eating while on Ibrance, I am eating now with no issues. So I guess it depends on your system. I was bothered by the face that sauce seemed to aggravate my stomach because I love Italian food. But everything in moderation (says the woman who is listed on her patient portal as being "morbidly obese" so take my advice with a grain of salt. LOL
I’m on Ibrance and have awful influx. I take Omeprozole for it but it doesn’t always work. My stomach reacts badly to dairy products and bread. I tried lactose free dairy products and that helped. Spicy food seems fine and we have a lot of chilli/tomato based dishes.
I guess it’s true to say we all react differently to our meds.
I’ve been surprised at what bothers me and doesn’t while on Ibrance. I can eat some spicy foods, I use lemon juice and oil as my salad dressing and that doesn’t bother me, but generally more rich heavy foods will make me go look for the Calcium tabs. I just try to be careful and not repeat that food if it bothers me. Elaine
There’s nothing disallowed apart from grapefruit juice so just try everything...if it upsets you then avoid it
I was fine when I took Ibrance...disappointed about grapefruit though as was one of my favourites
Such is life

My onco had told me to stay away from grapefruit juice when I started Ibrance and I said no a worry, I do not like that at all. Tried it once. I do love Hawaiian Punch LOL....I have the taste buds of a six year old child. I also love fruit loops for cereal which is loaded with sugar.
I use lots of spices every day, no problem. May need an antacid with spicy/hot ethnic foods. But safe as far as Ibrance remaining an effective medicine (I've been taking it since 10/17).
Spicy foods just don’t have the same appeal to me now ( I assume it is the ibrance ) & alcohol doesn’t appeal to me either . I miss the alcohol more than the spicy foods lol
LOL...I love pina coladas. I have not drank in a long time bc I am on too many meds and painkillers now. But if I come across a place that makes pina coladas, I will order one (but I don't think I will be going out to order anything for a while). I did hear on TV our our USA Dr. Faruchi is saying they have something "promising" that may be available in January or February but the problem will be there will be a limited amount. So first responders and essential workers, the people that tested in the medical testing (the ones that got placebos) and those with high rate conditions such as obesity and diabetes. Also, that they have to make sure that the USA with all its money does not get a larger amount as there are many other countries that need it just as much as we do but cannot afford as much as the USA. I would pass on it. I am 60, have this disease and have no family or children. So if there will be a limited amount when and if it passes (please God), I would pass on it anyway if even offered in the beginning.
I’ve been on Ibrance for 14 cycles now, and I have enjoyed spicy food throughout! I think it depends on the individual. Maybe start with a little spice and see how you feel before gradually increasing.
Hi. Ive been on Ibrance now 10 months and have had no issues with food. I do like the tablet better than the pill however. If I didn't eat enough with the pill ID get an upset stomach.
I’m on Ibrance also and have been for just over 2 years, and I have to take esomeprazole for shocking reflux. If I miss it in the morning, I am I so much pain with reflux in the afternoon.
But I don’t stop eating what I love. Life might be too short! So bugger it! I do what I want and take the pills! 🤣🤣🤣
I was on Ibrance for 40 cycles. I live in AZ and love Mexican food. I found that during week 3 Pico de Gallo (spices) caused stomatitis (mouth ulcers). So I timed my love for mexican food around week 1. I also used Chlorhexiden oral rinse and salt water rinses.
Stay strong.

I don’t eat a lot of spicy food myself and also drink decaf drinks , but I did read early on in my treatment ( Ibrance /Letrozole 34 cycles) that spicy food , caffeine , alcohol and smoking can all trigger hot flushes for those ladies on Letrozole / hormone treatment experiencing hot flushes ? x
