Hello lovelies!
Started swimming for exercise as I am still learning to walk well, after my Guillan-Barre Syndrome. I am up to 35 lengths now!

girlsptz,
Yes! I started on 7/1, and have probably swam 8-9 times, starting with 20 lengths and now at 35 lengths. It feels SO good, and I sleep much better too! Also, I have an appetite again!
Glad that you are on a better path Sandra.
Best,
Colleen
Wow! Good for you! That’s impressive.
I’m glad this gives you joy.
Colleen, Snap! I’m at 40 lengths (but I think this is a smaller pool). I am missing it at the moment though. Vicki
Stardust 1965,
LOL! GREAT job! If your #’s in your “forum name” indicate your birth year, than you have a slight advantage over me, as I was born in ‘60! 🤣 I haven’t swam laps in years, and was always a swimmer, high school swim team, daily swimmer at our condominium pool, when I was young.
You KNOW that I’ll be going for “40” tomorrow! Keep it up!
Best,
Colleen
Yeah - don’t know how to change my board name to drop that year of birth! 😂 Snap again on the school swim team etc. It was “my thing” as well as lake and ocean swimming. Those days are firmly behind me (water to cold or rough) but I still love the pool. Gives me a real sense of freedom and lightness of being. 💕
Way to Go!! I never truly learned to swim .I can dog paddle and can swim under water forward and can do a thing on my back not sure if they are official strokes . But I could save myself if needed. My 8 yr old granddaughter is swimming she won first place in free style at her most recent meet. 3rd place in the butterfly . I'm so glad she is learning to swim the correct way.
Quite an accomplishment Colleen 👏! Enjoy.
Colleen— what a THRIVER you are! Inspiring!!!!❤️
USIrishcolleen! I love that you're swimming and I *especially* love the photo you shared!
I'm sure you'd agree that swimming is not only fab exercise but it *feels* great!
When I was at my cancer fighting best (about a year ago...I've def slacked!) I was swimming regularly, typically followed by a pina colada, obstensibly to get some fruits into me, but the bit of rum helped the medicine go down!
You inspire me to try to give it another go! Oh! But I did swim in the ocean week before last! But back home in Dallas now, backyard pool will have to do!
Thanks for sharing!
Lynn
LynnFish,
Something that we have in common that we didn’t know about before! I swam when I was young, in the very same community pool that I swim in these days. My parents both passed, and they left their house to my niece, Annalisa, that is 22 and is intellectually handicapped. We live in their house together. I was on the swim team in high school, but really have not swam a lot in the last 40 years.
I needed a cardio exercise that was easy on my joints. I just began swimming on 7/1, and am increasing the number of lengths that I do every week. I feel GREAT!
Best to you LynnFish! 🐠
