MBC and .......A gloomy day

So, from Wednesday the City I live in will be lockdown. We have the third highest infection rate in Europe. As soon as the pubs had to close at 22.00 the youngsters went drinking out on the streets and mixing. Now students are confined to their halls and our hospitals are bursting at the seams. So ladies, today I am forgetting my MBC and doom and gloom and showing you one of the delightful Dahlias my stepdaughter gave me for my birthday 😍🥰

Happy Monday everyone.

Simply beautiful Cheryl.

I heard about Liverpool and thought of you. I hope the numbers will go down for you soon. Stay safe. Clare x

in reply to

Thanks lovely. We will do as we have been doing since March but oh boy it’s so boring at times. Especially when is wet outside. Can’t even see my stepdaughter outside now.

You stay safe to

Cheryl

in reply to

Really, you can’t go outside again? I’m so sorry. Let’s hope this lockdown will do the trick. Keep in touch acheryl

We haven’t been told to shield Clare. It’s all such nonsense and people in Liverpool hopefully will unite in this.

Liverpudlians are renowned for being united, so here’s hoping

Snow already. Mind you we did have sleet and hailstorms on Saturday so anything is,possible. At least it keeps the idiots in. They can’t weather the cold thank goodness.

Take care Sandra x

Hi Cheryl,

I watched the Prime Minister's address and heard about the three tier system he mentioned. I'm sorry to hear you are going back into lockdown again. Cases are rising closer to home too. My husband and I were having lunch in a local cafe earlier when a public health official stopped in to discuss the increase in cases! I didn't know what to think.

in reply to

Scary as you don’t know who is behind you. We took delivery of a new fridge/freezer today and neither of them wore a mask. Disgusting but I stayed in the bedroom. Hubby dealt with them but is to polite to say anything.

in reply to

That must have been scary, Cheryl.

in reply to

I just disenfected everything. Door handles, carpet, kitchen floor and even the letter box. Makes me angry. We had Scottish Power turn up unannounced two weeks ago but he showed his ID and wore a mask. Again I cleaned everywhere. Call me Mrs Paranoid......🤯🤬

in reply to

I don't think you are being paranoid at all. Covid-19 has reached my town, so I am going to be extra vigilant from now on. I have already been taking lots of precautions and being careful, but I will have to be extra careful from now on.

Sophie

in reply to

Yes really do take care Sophie. I wouldn’t even go to the shop today where as two weeks ago I was beginning to feel comfortable. I must say there has been evidence of police checking the streets. We live close to the Police Head Quaters and often see the blue lights and sirens going. It’s seems to be quiet out there right now but maybe it’s the calm before the storm. The photos we have seen with teenagers acting irresponsibly seem to show less than reported. Still to many but I would like to think that’s right.

Off to the dentist tomorrow. Surgery is a two minute walk. They have very strict hygiene control. I’m still dreading it though. Lost crown and broken tooth doesn’t fill me with glee. She checks on my ONJ as well. Goes from bad to worse some months.

Oh well, chin up and off we go to bed ready to meet another grateful day to be alive.

What beautiful flowers! I did think of you when I heard Liverpool was going back into lockdown. Will you still be able to go to your allotment? Perhaps you can grow lots of winter vegetables this year? Take care and stay safe. xx

in reply tostardust1965

Yes we can go to the allotment as it’s exercise and producing food. I feel safe there. Beautiful fresh air, overlooking the River Mersey and Welsh Mountains. I’m in a different place when I’m there. We will go on the dry weather days. Thank goodness we have it. Goodness knows how long it will be like this. We need tourism and students but what’s best and safer? It’s hard.

Take care

I hear you. I’m a country girl at heart despite living in capital cities around the world as an adult. I need to be close to nature and find it so therapeutic. I am worried for my daughters at university but they have been very sensible after shielding me for the best part of this year. I think we all just want to get back to normal but in reality that’s not going to happen any time soon. IMHO the British government should have acted on scientific advice much sooner at the beginning of both waves. It’s a delicate balancing act between saving lives and saving the economy. I don’t think there is any easy way forward. And don’t get me started on Trump and the countless deaths he has on his hands because of his (frankly criminal) attitude towards this pandemic! (Rant hardly begun, but over!) Deep breath.

I am pleased for you with your allotment. We have a rose garden where we’ve just moved to and just enjoying the tale end of them now. They smell Devine. 🌹

in reply tostardust1965

I feel so sorry for the students that have behaved and had to go into lockdown. I think that’s the majority in Liverpool. We went into lockdown last night. The youths went absolutely crazy, drinking dancing and singing in the road. It plays tricks with my mind honestly. They are so stupid and irresponsible. They complain about our lockdown but it’s because of them it’s happened.

How lovely. A rose garden. I adore them with white and pink lavender and geraniums in between. Flowers are my passion along, with, growing fruit and veg.

Take great care and we are hoping Trump doesn’t win.

Hi Cheryl

Thanks for sharing the uplifting photo of your beautiful dahlia.

Covid is becoming so frustrating. I really feel for you in a Liverpool facing a further lockdown, especially as we get closer to Winter & potential miserable weather,

Thank goodness we have this forum.

Take care & stay safe

Jo xx

in reply toSunnydrinking

I’m so glad I found it Jo and can contribute. It’s a nightmare really. I really need outdoor space every day. With winter drawing in I want to make the most of dry days but once again my movements are restricted. I know there is a difference of opinion from people but really I think we should have lockdown here sooner. I know somebody that works in research in our local hospital and she has had to stop that and deal with the test cases and even go on wards. She is shattered and upset that family and friends can’t sit with their sick relatives. The side we do not see.

Take care and best wishes

Hi Cheryl

I’ve just been planting snowdrops - something to look forward to next Spring. I hope they flower ok, sometimes you have to wait 2 years / hope I’ll still be around 😂🤞

I agree lockdowns are difficult but necessary & already our hospitals are strained... our nurses are worth their weight in gold ❤️🌈

Jo xx

in reply toSunnydrinking

Absolutely Jo and of course you will see them bloom. Just picture how lovely they will be.

Take care lovely lady x

Just want to interject here. Your message hit home to me. Yes lockdown is wearing on our nerves but then I have to remember the people on the front lines like the one you know having to go the extra mile for us all. We just have to be restricted but they are out there working tirelessly on our behalf! Thanks for reminding me and giving me a different perspective.

Cheers, June S.

in reply to8576

You are welcome June. I think many folks need reminding. Especially the students here that want to party all the time and spread the virus. It’s almost out of sight out of mind. I’m sure we will all pull through if we unite.

Take care

The flowers are beautiful, and so is your timing.

As we each face this second wave, may we feel the strength and solidarity of each other across the pond and around the world. .

Thank you.

I’m so pleased we can unite this way. It really does help with our wellbeing.

Oh gosh. I’m in Melbourne Australia. We’ve been in lockdown with a curfew since June. And a no going out of your 5 km radius rule. It’s been awful. But brought the numbers down.

Now the numbers are hovering at a difficult level, where they’re not going down fast enough for our premier to open up businesses again. Our economy is in a desperate state. But we got the numbers down at least. Ugh. I’m so tired of being locked up.🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

We certainly know that feeling. My son and family are in Brisbane. I spoke to him the weekend and he said the borders are still closed although they have no cases in Brisbane. It’s ridiculous the way our lockdown ended so quick when our numbers were so high. I’m glad he isn’t living in the UK now. He is self employed and would be under pressure financially. My heart goes out to those businesses in turmoil. So many have had to close now. I also feel for the homeless here. They were given accommodation first time around. Now there is no help for them. So upsetting. Watch this space. The next few weeks are crucial.

Best wishes

Lovely picture. Thanks for sharing and wiping away the doom and gloom. Just what we needed.

Yes we are all suffering from lockdown. And yes, the young people are so bad. They think they can't get the virus! Probably been listening to Trump!

This year is awful because of the virus but I only hope we can have a nice Christmas with our families.

Cheers, June S.

in reply to8576

Wouldn’t a nice family Christmas be great. I haven’t seen my family since January. Mum is 93. They only live 280mile away but because of my vulnerability I haven’t been able to travel there. Trains are out as we have to go on the London Underground after going on the mainline train and my bones won’t stand car travel, I especially hate motorways. So, here’s hoping we can train travel at Christmas.

Take care

Oh that is an added stress. What a wonderful age. Do you get to see her over the computer. I guess you can have phone calls for sure but not the same. So keep our fingers crossed for Christmas.

Cheers , June S.

in reply to8576

Yes believe it or not she actually does FaceTime and Facebook. I speak with her every day. She stays with my brother weekends so is able to see her Grandchildren. Just hope the virus figures stay low in their area so she can visit. I really miss her. Travelling was never a problem for us until this virus kicked in. Wish we could kick it out but hey ho. We must carry on as best we can. Take care

Dear Flower Fairie

Gosh! That is so bad that you cannot see your mother who is so elderly.. Is she in good health and will survive all this disaster? I am really in bad shape because of the craziness with the crazy man coupled with a crucial time in my MBC life. Sorry if that sounds like a pity party. Well, I suppose it is. Yet, one of my friends said that I was the most optimistic person she has ever met. That's probably because I really do enjoy my life the majority of time. It is all this uncertainty about our country's future after November 3. Nuff said!

I really feel for you there. We watch the news and US news every day. Please please don’t let him get in again. He will ruin everything. He has a mashed up brain. I think ours is just as bad. Maybe not so self obsessed but like a schoolboy getting his own way. It’s hard to get it out of our heads every day and Monday was a real bad day for me. I couldn’t think of anything else but the high number of cases in Liverpool. Right on our doorstep. We will do the right thing. We will get over the blips. The more we communicate the less we will think about it. Look after yourself.

Oh Covid! Infection rates are going up in the U.S too, and I am certainly not out and about— but I fear cold and flu season will be bad this year with Covid added in. Beautiful picture of the rose and mum. Wishing you the best week!🌼

in reply toBluHydrangea

We watch the figures in the US. It saddens us to see them. I agree. Folks won’t know if they have flu or COVID. We just have to do the best we can to look after ourselves.
