I’ve decided to try TAXOL

Dear lovely ladies

I visited my Oncologist today with my husband, Steve. I’ve opted to try taxol, 3 weeks on and 1 week off.

I’m having a port fitted a week tomorrow and treatment should follow soon afterwards.

Let’s hope it’s successful and I don’t suffer too many side effects.

I can’t thank you enough for all your very helpful and supportive comments over the last week. You have all been amazing and so very caring. THANK YOU

Wishing you all the very best.

Jo xx

PS I get knocked down, but I get up again 👍

I’m glad you came to terms with a treatment plan. I’m sure it was a relief so now be good to yourself and look forward to the summer. It’s still cold here in Wa state so we can all do with seeing the sun on a more regular basis. Looking forward to planting some veggies and Just sitting in my garden. Glad you’re back in the fight:)

I’m on it had my fourth I’ve yesterday got a reaction again third time ,slowed it down usually it takes 1 hour but had it over 2 and half hours was ok ,steroids and Piriton added to it ,hope you don’t have reaction it happens in first 5 minutes so be wary of back pain and flushing ,just press red button quickly ,first one was ok body didn’t know what it was but can reject after that ,but nurses are great it’s very common ,best of luck ♥️♥️💪💪

Hi Jo, I think that is a wise choice with your mets. I have just had my 19th weekly treatment without the fourth week break( I get it every week but am lucky enough the nurse comes to me as we have great private ins). I am due for 24 doses so am looking forward to going on to an aromatise inhibitor for a couple of months to help my body recover. Then back on chemo. This is my second round of taxol and it has actually been easier than the first. Wishing you well. Please don’t worry you will manage it fine x

Just seeing this now. Been so busy with moving to a new city. Sending you lots of good wishes. Love that you get back up again! Take care, I liked Bangor Belle's remarks. I hadn't thought about just doing chemo for a period of time and then resting. I guess I thought you just stay on chemo forever. Taking a break is something to look forward too. Keep us posted if you can.

Cheers, June S.

I did Taxol years ago when I had my original breast cancer. I tolerated it quite well. Finger crossed you will too. Sending you big hugs and great hopes that this will yield wonderful results for you.

Hi Jo,I am glad you have settled on a plan and are feeling positive. I always remember when I was first diagnosed and the Macmillan nurse said to me, “You are very positive, and that helps.” I replied, “Do you think so?” and she said, “I KNOW so.” Lots of people seem to do well on Taxol and I am very hopeful it will be the same for you. Wishing you lots of luck and sending hugs.

I just had my fourth Taxol infusion yesterday. So far, my SE are quite manageable. I’ve had some heartburn, and a day or two of a little stomach upset; but I have Zofran at home that I can take for the nausea. I’ve still been able to work full time at home, so all in all not too bad. My hair is really starting to thin, but I have a really cute wig that looks just like my hair and I bought some scarves and hats on Amazon. Best of luck to you! ❤️

Best of luck to you Jo, hope all goes well x

I hope Taxol works for you. Ask the doctors for a USB 3.0 port and see what they say. ;>)

Hi Jo I am on my 10 th treatment and I find the side effects manageable . I had a 1 week delay because of low blood counts but was good to go the next week .

I hope this is effective and gentle on you .

If you have any questions feel free to ask .

All the best !

I had it weekly, for 12 weeks, and lymph node completely cleared up. I've now been on maintenance for 3/4 year, and my scans are good! My side effects have not been pleasant, but could have been worse. Each person gets a different prescription, and our bodies react differently, so we can hope that it's easier for you and you still get the desired effect - shrinking or disappearing mets, and no new ones!
